Yay or not? I knew 2 Tessas at school both super confident and I always thought they had the coolest name. Short, simple, easy to pronounce. Slightly harsh sound but that's the same with Ceciliy, Siciliy, Catherine, all names I like.

What connotations does Tessa have for you?

I absolutely love both of them

whattodo2019 · 26/10/2022 08:56

Tessa or Tess is a lovely name. My 17 DD has a great friend called Tessa.

Luredbyapomegranate · 25/10/2022 23:32

Tessa is nice. Not harsh sounding at all.

I think Tess is too diminutive as a full name, but Esther nn Tess/a works, and I have met a couple of Elizabeths known as Tess - a variation on Bess I suppose.

summerinthecity1990 · 25/10/2022 10:33

It's my name! I go through phases of loving it and others of being sort of neutral. I do think it's been a very good level of popularity my whole life. Everyone is familiar with it but it doesn't have any particular age connotations and it's pretty rare/exciting to meet another one.

I actually prefer Tess and like when people call me that but feels a bit late to start introducing myself that way. Never got teased for the ten ton Tessy/Tessa tickle references. The only comment I get occasionally is surprise that it isn't a nickname.

Nice to hear other people's nice opinions as it doesn't come up much!

DeborahVance · 22/10/2022 20:24

Love it

StupidSmallFruit · 22/10/2022 20:23

It’s nice.

But where do you get ‘harsh’ from? It’s not harsh at all, and neither are the other names you listed. They’re all gentle sounding to me.

DontMakeMeShushYou · 22/10/2022 20:21

Tess or Tessa are both beautiful names.

RandomMusings7 · 22/10/2022 19:38

I like Tessa. You can pretend it's short for Contessa.

FayCarew · 22/10/2022 19:35

Tess is nice. Wouldn't use it if the surname is Tickell.

ChagSameachDoreen · 22/10/2022 16:02

No. It's a weird squirmy name. Makes me itch.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/10/2022 13:59

Love Tess

It reminds me of Tessa of the D'Ubervilles, who is a bit of a tragic character...

To balance that out there's the great, although sliiiiightly less literary, Tess McGill from Working Girl. She conquered Wall Street and walked off into the sunset with Harrison Ford.

Tess is lovely. Tessa doesn't have the same charm. Works perfectly as a full name imo. Cannot stand Theresa or Therese etc,

CarrieMoonbeams · 22/10/2022 10:03

Love Tess, much prefer it to Tessa.

ellieboolou · 22/10/2022 09:54

Two ton Tess
No it's an awful name, sorry

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 22/10/2022 01:42

Tess is a lovely name .

MumofSpud · 22/10/2022 01:39

My DD was nearly Tess - but I can't stand Tess Daley!

DramaAlpaca · 22/10/2022 01:24

I don't much like Tessa, it has a dated feel.

Tess, however, is just fabulous.

Beachsidesunset · 21/10/2022 20:13

My daughter is Tressa - Cornish for 'third'. I love it!

wishing3 · 21/10/2022 19:53

Like Tessa, love Tess.

JessesMum777888 · 21/10/2022 19:52

ofwarren · 21/10/2022 19:50

There was a Tess at my school, nicknamed Tess Tickle...

Phoenixrising2020 · 21/10/2022 19:42

My 78 year old grandmother was called Tess and so was a friend at school. Beautiful name and beautiful people.

Duvetdweller · 21/10/2022 19:24

It’s a great name. Easy to spell and say. Unusual without anyone thinking it’s weird.

Frazzled2207 · 21/10/2022 19:22

Not that keen on TessA that should read
