Which one do you prefer?
I love vintage 'old lady' names!
Thanks

I don’t like Annie as a given name, so Ada.

I prefer Anne to Ada though

dream28 · 20/10/2022 20:27

not keen on either
I feel like Ada is already passe, it and Ada+lyn/line/variation where heard everywhere in recent years, and not anymore
Annie is established nickname name, but kind of remains in Anna shadow, like "oh, like nickname from Anna"

I would choose Ada Violet out of two
other suggestions Anya, Anne...

Anna Violet

Annie is a nice nn but too cutesy to be a full name.

Ada is way overused

Ida is nice though and much less common

Lovestodrinkmilk · 20/10/2022 17:43

Both absolutely lovely, toss a coin!

nelliebear8 · 20/10/2022 16:39

Ada is lovely! Annie is fine, too.

Ada

justanotherlaura · 20/10/2022 16:05

Ada short for Adaline I think is really pretty, I'd love to have Ada but I have a niece called Ava

mathanxiety · 20/10/2022 15:51

Annie by a country mile.

It's an old lady name but it's not faddish like Ada. It's more of a classic.

Gruelle · 20/10/2022 15:47

Violet Adele …

Don’t think either of your choices work well together.

Eunoia · 20/10/2022 15:43

Annabelle Violet is much nicer, and you can use Annie as a NN.

But out of the two options I'd say Ada Violet.

Hatscats · 20/10/2022 15:36

Ada

i like Anna but not as keen on Annie!

Rosegeranium · 20/10/2022 12:28

Depends on whether you are bothered if the name is fairly popular or not. I know a LOT of Under 5s called Ada. 5 at the last count. Annie is nice. It was my great grandmother’s name so def has the grandmother vibe for me.

violetcuriosity · 20/10/2022 12:25

I have an Ava Violet 🌸

TheYearOfSmallThings · 20/10/2022 12:23

I like Annie and Ada, but maybe adding Violet is a bit much? I'm thinking of the Lovelock sisters (Ada, Bertha and Violet) from the Thrush Green books.

Maybe one old lady name and one more timeless one?

SirenSays · 20/10/2022 12:17

Annie Violet sounds like the main character in a children's book. Love it.

DuchessOfSausage · 20/10/2022 12:14

Annie. Middle names don't get used much. not keen on Ada.

S25 · 20/10/2022 11:21

Ada goes better with Violet but I prefer Annie!

NellietheNumpty · 20/10/2022 10:15

Violet Ada

Mischance · 20/10/2022 10:11

It is intriguing how names come round again - I had a gang of Victorian-style great aunts called Ethel, Annie, Ada, Agatha etc. and these names make me think of white hair and walking sticks!

SatinHeart · 20/10/2022 10:11

Ada goes much better with Violet

WaltzingWaters · 20/10/2022 10:10

Ada Violet is lovely.
I don’t really think Annie and Violet flow together so we’ll.

HiKelsey · 20/10/2022 10:09

Someone I know has a Ada Violet and she perfectly suits her name. She's a lovely little girl
