Rate my name shortlist /10

I prefer the boys' names to the girls' names. I really like Caspar (like it better than Caspian) and Idris and I like Ash as a shortening of Asher. I like Judah but will he get the Judas association thing? I don't know. Arietta is pretty but what would it be shortened to? Arri? I'm not a fan of Aurelia or Eadlin. River and Seren are quite nice. Sorry I can't do scores!

Aurelia - 6/10 bit of a mouthful
Eadlin/Eadlyn - 4/10, not heard of this name and think you’d get a lot of “what? Evelyn? How do you spell it?”
River 9/10 love as boys or girls
Seren - 9/10 love and also serena is lovely too.

I love Seren and Idris. I also like the name Cadi for a girl (if you want a welsh name!)

Boys: I really like Judah and Asher is quite nice.

Idris is OK but I can only think of Idris Elba, it's so associated with him.
Caspian hm OK I suppose, but very geographical (plus Narnian prince). Caspar, sorry I can only think 'friendly ghost'!

Girls Seren is nice although I prefer Serena.
Eadlin - never heard of this, not particularly attractive. Eden is nice.
River - think it's primarily a boy's name (in spite of Doctor Who!)
Aurelia OK I suppose, a bit fussy and fusty. The only person I associate it with is Sylvia Plath's mother. (Now Sylvia, there's a nice name!)
Arietta OK. Bit Borrowers, although that was ArriettY. Ariella is nicer.

I think your boy list is better than the girls.

Asher is real, yes. It's Hebrew - I'm Jewish, so I know a lot of them (aside from my own Asher).

Eadlin/Eadlyn - 6/10 - I love it but will blur with the billion Edies. Jocelyn, Ethelyn, Merryn, Mirren, Olwen, might be others

River - 1/10 - naff, low rent
Seren - 7/10 - quite like it, but like Ffion and Olwen better. Or maybe Arran or Aislinn. There are also quite a lot of them.

Arietta - hadn’t heard this before so googled it - I prefer Aria but I’d give this 6/10
Aurelia - Pretty but it’s being so over done now but still 8/10
Eadlin/Eadlyn - another one I haven’t heard of before so googled it and it means princess which is very sweet but I do think it would be misheard as Evelyn 6/10
River - I actually prefer river for a girl over it being used as a boys name which is seems is more commonly done - 7/10
Seren - gorgeoussssss, lovely meaning too 10/10

Caspar - 7.5/10 Love it, but prefer Jasper and there’s always the friendly ghost association.
