My daughter has 4 Sophia’s in her class alone.

Also Rueben seems to be the most common boys name.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
VampireCat · 14/10/2022 21:16

Friend has three Amelias in her class. All pronounced differently. Surprised two people said Rueben, there’s only Reubens round here. We’ve got three boys with the same uncommon surname in one class, all unrelated!

Quornflakegirl · 14/10/2022 21:15

We have some not so common ones
Rosalie
Agnes
Beau
Isadora
Nancy

I like them all.

I am a Sophie and born in the early 70s.
i spent my entire childhood hearing « what an unusual / old-fashioned name ».

How times change :)

That exactly what everyone said about my dd's name in 1997. It's number 7 now!

AlternativelyWired · 14/10/2022 21:08

3 boys called Isaac in ds's class. No repeats of any of the girls or any other boy's names.

RuthW · 14/10/2022 21:07

When dd was at primary school (she's 25 now) 20% of the girls in her three form entry year were called Emily.

When she was 6 she had 7 friends called Georgia.

Elizabeth110100 · 14/10/2022 21:06

Olivia, Sophia and Leo. There are 5 Leo's in a year of 50 children.

Kimya · 14/10/2022 21:03

The only repeated name in my daughter's year (one form entry) is Florence.

Otherwise, there seem to be a lot of Graces and Hugos among the rest of the school. Bizarrely I'm not aware of an Oliver or Olivia but I'm sure there must be some.

Mason? What kind of name is that? There surely can't be multiple Masons in any self-respecting school.

christmastreewithhairyfairy · 14/10/2022 20:59

I'm surprised Eva hasn't come up more on this thread. Sometimes feels like the girls at my DCs schools are 50% Evas!

HighlandPony · 14/10/2022 20:58

Olivia Isla Lily Caitlin Anna are all pretty popular in the village for girls and Ruairidh Ollie Calum James Lennon Robert are around 80% of the village boys names. I don’t really know the school kids coz the village kids are bused into town for school so I’ve never met the town kids. A lot of our names are family names.

Incidentally all the Ollies and Olivia’s are related and that’s been the case going back generations in my living memory to old grannie Olive who’s house I live in. Old grannie Olives daughter Olive is in her 80s and lives with her granddaughter Olive who’s own daughter is Olivia iykwim.granddaughter Olive’s dad was Oliver.

Cicchetti · 14/10/2022 20:58
