I think being called Scotia in Scotland might be a bit awkward. It also makes me think of Scottie dogs. Would definitely not do this. Name her after an island: Skye, Iona or even Rona are better.

Rocky is a bit embarrassing, in my opinion, sorry! But you could do Rochelle.

Libby is fine but Bertie is not. Liberty overall is ok but a bit much.

Roxanne or Veronica could be nicknamed Rocky, but Rocky sounds very masculine to me.

I thought Scotia just meant Scotland -like Alba - well it does but is also a variant spelling of Scota . An ancestor Goddess of the Gaels according to myths.
Cara / friend is nice and not too way out.
I loved the sound of Bronagh although it means sorrowful it is fairly popular.

Scotia is awful as a name - sorry. Sounds like a Building Society.

And people will miss pronounce it, either

I do like Roberta if you are keen on Bertie although she may get it shorted to Rob/Robbie/Bob/Bobby.

Rochelle etc is nice but in all honesty, Rocky to me sounds more like a nickname for a boy.

So many lovely Scottish names out there for girls if you want to go down that route without sounding try hard and contrived.

(Before anyone leaps on me, I know the meaning of Scotia. But I think it has a very medical sound as a name.)

Liberty also made me think of the dog on Paw Patrol. I need to stop watching Paw Patrol.

Scotia as a name makes me think of a disease 😳 I’m so sorry, I toyed with whether to post this as it sounds horrible but decided to as I thought, I always ask for baby name opinions to hear honest opinions. I also really don’t like Roksana or Rocky for a girl. There’s a (male) dog called Rocky on Paw Patrol which was my first thought when I saw the name Rocky. It’s the sort of name my DC would approve of, for this reason, though. So that’s something.

Alba is nice, as a PP said. Alberta also cool.

It would be unusual to call a girl "Rocky", as it's perceived as a macho name, especially due to the film about a boxer, starring Sylvester Stallone. Although the film is quite old now, it is still remembered. Roksana nn Roksi or Roxy are regarded as feminine.
The name Scotia is rarely used in Scotland as a girls' name and people will be surprised by it and will argue with you about whether it is a name. "Scot" or "Scoth" both mean "blossom" and "Scothín" is a lovely Gaelic name that is being used in both Ireland and Scotland.
If you like the meaning of Liberty, but don't like Libby or Bertie, you might think of using the name Saoirse, which is Gaelic for liberty, and is widely known due to the actor Saoirse Ronan.

Why not just Scottie?

In a Canadian context, Liberty always makes me think of the character Liberty Van Vandt in Degrassi Next Generation - she was always just Liberty, or occasionally L (Elle?) Scotia make me think of the bank!

Scotia is a bit tricky. Coz it is pronounced skow-shia but I'm guessing a lot of ppl would just give up and call her Scotty.

I know a Bertie - real name Roberta. Nice name I think. So is Rochelle.

Liberty would be a Libby I think so if you don't like it I wouldn't use it. Roxanne or Rochelle would work if you like the nickname Rocky. She may also decide to be Roxy if you called her Roxanne.

Athena is a nice name and I think based on a Greek godess. Sorry but I don't really like Scotia.

Rocky & Scotia are just a bit crazy I'm afraid.
Don't use anything you don't like any potential nicknames for because even if you don't use it, someone inevitably will at some point.
Alba is sweet and not too common.

I like the name Liberty and the nickname Libby. Scotia is awful. I’m not sure how I feel about the name Rocky, though I would have it would be short or the name Roxanne, which is quite nice I think.
