Boys name you weren’t quite brave enough to use?

Struggling to think of another boys’ name. I like names that aren’t super popular - so i’d love to hear your boy name choices that maybe were ever-so-slightly too “out there” for you to use!

as people would say his initials are 'D&C' as in dilation and curettage.

Never heard of that Confused

I know, I don't think any single person would have heard of that either. Just in my dads head I think. 😓

I'm sure David Cameron never came across it.

I wanted to call my first son Dylan, our surname starts with the letter 'C', and my dad said that I couldn't possibly choose this name, as people would say his initials are 'D&C' as in dilation and curettage.

I don't happen to agree with him at all, but this really put me off and so I was unable to use anything beginning with D after that.

A name I would love to use for a boy if I had another, is Etienne.

A girls name I've always loved, is Indigo.

I liked Douglas but for some reason DP wouldn't consider it and thought it was far too something or other. Douglas? Surely it's quite ordinary.

BeyondsEnergyObsession · 09/10/2022 16:20

Ex was absolutely insistent that DS1 was going to be Øyvind (Öyvind? Can't remember how to spell it...). No idea where it came from, think he may have been a footballer?

FizFletch · 09/10/2022 15:53

I don't know the gender of my unborn yet but for boys names I love Ivo and Fox. Not really "out there" as such but probably are for where I live! We are over run with Alfie's and Ollie's here

I have a Gregor and I love the name I've never considered it very 'out there'!

I think it's more about time/place in terms of trends at that time ....

Iin a time when every second boy was being called Connor, Aiden, Declan, Rory, Kylar, Skylar, Tyler, Kaiden, Jayden, Rayden etc. etc. 'Gregor' was truly out there!! lol

Love the name.

I favoured Jason for our firstborn...until DH said "That's a German Shepherd kind of name".

mumonthehill · 09/10/2022 15:37

Both of my ds names are on these lists, however I was not brave enough to use Gilbert and I love it still.

SequinsandStilettos · 09/10/2022 15:37

Hunter (too gladiators)
Hugo (too posh)
Holmes (surname not a name)
Hayden (also girl's name)
Hazel (seemed outdated)
Honey (Boo boo)
