Some witchy names

I love witchy names (that make me think of kind witches, not evil ones). Agatha is one of my favourites but my husband dislikes it so unfortunately it's not on our list. Sabrina is on our list and I love it. Last night I was reading "The Worst Witch" to my little cousin and encountered some more lovely witchy names. What do you think?

Enid
Mildred
Maud
Dawn
Gloria
Ethel

and from the TV show that I remember watching as a kid (some names are the names of the actresses):

Ruby
Felicity
Sybil
Georgina
Drusilla

Thoughts? And would you say that Felicity is a posh name? I just noticed lots of comments like that in an old post on the name that I found.

Ruby is already on our list too but feels a bit "woman in her 20s" to me. Husband loves it, though.

I wouldn't consider all of them for my list but curious what you think. The ones I would consider adding (if my husband agrees): Enid (this was also suggested by someone here, thanks!), Felicity.

Agatha would forever be associated with Harkness. Why not Scarlet or Wanda from Scarlet witch? Agree with @ JayPritchet

Morgan a great choice. Sybil likewise.

Serafina from Golden Compass. Agree with @blackberrybat

The vast majority of names in this thread I would not associate as witch names at all.

Felicity definitely not posh name in my opinion, would not think as baby or young child name.

I’m a Pagan witch, and nothing on your list says ‘witchy’ to me. Many of us have given names, ‘craft’ names, and names known only to us. Popular culture has bastardised our spiritual practice, and made our special days, like Samhain (Halloween) into something ridiculous and insulting. Witches have been hunted and killed throughout the ages, and in all countries. The so-called acceptance now is grounded not on understanding, but on a debased idea of the green path.

Obviously you call your daughter whatever you chose, for whatever reason you like.

Of your list only Tabitha, Sybil, Agatha, Mildred, Ethel, Sabrina and Drusilla have witchy vibes to me. And of these I personally only find Tabitha, Sabrina and Sybil very useable as the others are too dated imo (I secretly love Drusilla too but it's brave! Maybe you'd like Lucilla or Sibylla too?)

Other names which have "witchy" or gothic type vibes to me are Eve, Lilith, Lucretia, Claudia and Selene/Selena - Claudia or Eve would probably be my top picks personally (other than Tabitha).

And no, I don't think pretty Felicity is particularly posh (not now it's edged into the top 100 a few times recently) - bit neither does it seem especially "witchy" to me either (it's too obviously a virtue name like Verity, Constance, Faith etc).

Enid - cool
Mildred - too worst witch
Maud - dowdy
Dawn - from the office
Gloria- almost named my daughter this but it didn't suit her. Not witchy though
Ethel - love
Ruby - too much
Felicity - alright
Sybil - bit meh
Georgina - alright but no magic
Drusilla - just no

I don't consider Dawn, Gloria, Ethel, Felicity, Ruby, Sybil or Georgina "witchy". From the ones that I consider witchy, Enid is my favourite.

Are you going to tell your daughter that you chose a witchy name for her? We have a tendency to glamorise witches in western popular culture but a lot of those names will have been taken from actual women who were tortured and killed in horrific ways, for being accused of witchcraft. Something that still goes on in many parts of the world, to women, men and children.
