Stella, Nina and Bella

Please let me know your thoughts on

Nina
Stella
Bella

Isabella is on our list. I love how classic it is but dislike Izzy. I think Izzy is avoidable by offering Bella or Bell. Just Bella feels a bit less classic to me but I still like it. Is it too Twilight still or too "of the moment"?

Is Stella too harsh? Love the meaning but friends have told me it makes them think of pubs and bars (I guess because of the beer?).

Nina I say like nee-na.

Should I add these to my list? Thanks for your help!

Love Nina, not overly girly and not too popular. Not keen on the others Stella makes me think of a burly barmaid - maybe because of Stella Artois?! And Bella will always make me think of the dreaded Tweenies and their annoying voices!

BasiliskStare · 09/10/2022 06:24

Had I been lucky enough to have a girl Stella was on the list - I think it is fabulous. I would think more Stella Rimmington , Stella McCartney , Stella Tennant rather than a can of beer. Would not even cross my mind to associate a young girl's name with that. - I think it far lovelier and more classic than Bella or Nina & just personally not keen in Izzy which Isobel may get.

But not my daughter - not my choice - good luck with your daughter - It will just become her name whatever you choose but definitely Stella would be my choice

Love Stella.

Not keen on Nina or Bella.

Orders76 · 08/10/2022 23:55

I thought about Nina but in the end went with Meena, think it was in interview with the vampire.
I remember seeing the Irish Lena which I also loved.

Kentgirl2525 · 08/10/2022 23:54

Estella is much better than Stella. May get called Este ( Estie) for short which is cute and fresh!
Bella is undeniably pretty though!

Carouselfish · 08/10/2022 23:50

I like Nina the most OP.

UsernameIsHarderThanBabyName · 07/10/2022 16:59

Love both Nina and Stella. I really don’t like Bella though

Mummysharkdoodoodoodoodoodoo · 07/10/2022 05:19

I like Nina best. I like the sound of Bella but wouldn't use it as there are too many Bellas around. Stella is interesting and has a cool feel to it.

DramaAlpaca · 07/10/2022 00:10

Stella is lovely, as are Estella and Estelle.

Bella short for Isabella is nice, but it doesn't feel strong enough on its own.

Nina is a big no for me, it's wet and wishy-washy. Another Mia, Ella, Evie type of name, all girly and sweet. In its favour I suppose is its international feel, that's always good.

Luredbyapomegranate · 06/10/2022 21:47

I like Stella, it’s punchy and gaining popularity, so I don’t think her generation will associate it with beer.

Bella is overdone, but also if it’s short for Isabel you can’t control other people calling her Izzy. So don’t pick it if that bothers you.

Nina is nothing-y to me

BeanStew22 · 06/10/2022 21:39

Nina - don't like it at all! Makes me think of an ambulance siren.

a friend with this name says the kids at school used to do this - I still love the name

What about Tara?

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 06/10/2022 21:23

I knew a very cool Nina. She was French. I've never liked Stella. Sounds like a pub landlady. Bella/Belle is a bit Disney. Holly W has a Belle, doesn't she? Sounds like a collie name. So it would be Nina for me.

lillyledbetter · 06/10/2022 21:14

(oops not sure why it's striking through!)

lillyledbetter · 06/10/2022 21:14

I have a Nina and obv. love it I think it's a little black dress of a name. I remember reading when she was named that people thought of an ambulance siren but I once asked DD if she'd ever been teased for this and she looked at me like I was completely mad. So no, it's not a problem. Stella is also so lovely I know a terrific little Stella and it doesn't make me think of beer or pubs at all. Great choices!

SalviaOfficinalis · 06/10/2022 14:43

I really like Nina.
Bella is the most commonly used of the 3 but I do like it as a standalone.

Mammed · 06/10/2022 13:33

Stella- I do like it but I'd be worried people thought she was named after the beer.

Bella - really cute, popular but still very pretty

Nina - don't like it at all! Makes me think of an ambulance siren.

PrimroseWharf · 06/10/2022 13:29

I like Nina best

KirstenBlest · 06/10/2022 13:09

Nina and Stella are nice. Not keen on Bella - too similar to Ella and Ellie, and seems like it should be short for something.
I don't like Seren at all - too modern and it sounds harsh.

Strokethefurrywall · 06/10/2022 13:01

I love Nina and Stella, I know two extremely cool females with these names so they definitely don't make me think old lady or harsh.

Bella is everywhere, it doesn't pique my interest at all despite being perfectly acceptable.

RuthW · 06/10/2022 12:23

Stella is the best from your list

ChocolateSpreadOnToast · 06/10/2022 12:12

Bella is the most popular name for a dog. I also just find it a bit dull. It’s overdone.

Never been keen on Stella, not sure why. Nina is ok I guess. Would make a change from all the Evies, Ava’s and Islas.

puddingandsun · 06/10/2022 11:37

Bella - love

Stella (don't like because of personal reasons) - it's ok

Nina -no

outtheshowernow · 06/10/2022 11:36

Nina. Really unusual and classy

Lunabun · 06/10/2022 11:34

Not keen on Bella at all.

Stella is gorgeous, I also love Estelle.

Nina is sweet too.

ChakaKhanfan · 06/10/2022 11:26

I always like Esther and Esme
Astrid?
