I prefer Cordelia , can I throw Cressida in as well .

My favourite Shakespearean name too!

I prefer the sound of Ophelia but if you are driven to these names by a love for Shakespeare then it has to be Cordelia surely? A great namesake!

I prefer the name cordelia but can't get past the Shakespeare tragic heroine connotation for both. Ophelia particularly is very much a passive victim whereas at least Cordelia is more assertive

If I wanted a Shakespeare name I'd go for Portia, Rosalind, Beatrice or Miranda

Cordelia

purpleme12 · 03/10/2022 21:24

Well I only like Ophelia when it's pronounced Ophelia as opposed to Opheeelia if you see what I mean. But everyone seems to pronounce it the second way

blameitonthecaffeine · 03/10/2022 21:23

Ooh, tough choice. I prefer Cordelia to Ophelia but, if others insisted on shortening it, I much prefer Fee/Fifi to Cordy. I don't know why so many people want to shorten so many beautiful names but it always seems to happen.

backacge · 03/10/2022 21:23

Ophelia. Cordelia just makes me think of cordial for some reason.

Janedoe82 · 03/10/2022 21:22

Like them both but unless you are actually posh they will sound pretentious

Lilacsunflowers · 03/10/2022 21:20

Both beautiful names that aren't overused. Love them both!
