Lloyd & Rosalind. Yes or No. I rarely see either of these names mentioned and wondered if they are due a resurface?

Rosalind is ok but Lloyd is awful, sorry

rosesareredandpink · 06/10/2022 20:46

How interesting, so much history connected to that Chapel! Thank you for sharing @KirstenBlest and I look forward to meeting a Lloyd someday.

KirstenBlest · 06/10/2022 20:26

@rosesareredandpink , en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosslyn_Chapel

Lloyd is an anglicised Welsh name and it means Grey. I know a few people of different ages with the name

rosesareredandpink · 06/10/2022 17:59

I recently walked past a coffee shop called Rosslyn and thought ‘that’s a lovely underused name’ - Very similar to Rosalind which is also lovely. I also like the uniqueness of Lloyd. It’s a strong name. Congratulations !

Blackberrybunnet · 06/10/2022 17:19

should read "nice combo"!

Blackberrybunnet · 06/10/2022 17:18

Love Rosalind, not so keen on Lloyd, but it's a pleasant enough name. Quite a Nic ecombo, I'd say - not too "twinny"

Cheeselog · 06/10/2022 16:26

I love Rosalind! Not keen on Lloyd though, makes me think of Lloyds bank.

AndYouCanBuggerOffAsWell · 06/10/2022 16:17

Lucas & Rosie ?

mathanxiety · 06/10/2022 16:14

Rosalind is nice.

Lloyd? Not at all my cup of tea.
It's like Homer, Floyd, Earl, and Herbert and other American Grandpa names. In the 1970s men with names like that would have played golf wearing loud, patterned golf trousers.

How about
Leo
Leon
Lowell
Lyle
Lennox

DeeDeeDaisy · 04/10/2022 22:44

Probably me overthinking but if I had one child whose name could be shortened (Rosalind - Rose, Rosie etc) I would want the other one to have the option too.
Lloyd and Rosa? Then they are equally un-shortenable, ha!

But if that isn't an issue for you, both names are lovely

omarcoming · 04/10/2022 17:51

How about Tag and Brick?

GlassDeli · 04/10/2022 17:51

I think they're a nice combination of two underused and refreshing names.

Luredbyapomegranate · 04/10/2022 15:04

Not really

Not keen on Lloyd (makes me think of tennis rackets)

Rosalind is nice but she’ll likely end up one of a million Rosie’s - or Ros, obviously, which is a bit meh

Longdarkcloud · 04/10/2022 14:12

Nice and non-hackneyed combination

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 04/10/2022 00:59

Really like Lloyd but no to Rosalind , can’t stand the nn Roz .

Daisybuttercup12345 · 04/10/2022 00:53

No just terrible.

KirstenBlest · 03/10/2022 16:33

I know at least 2 women called Ros and think it is a really nice name. Rose is ok but Ros seems edgier

SummaLuvin · 03/10/2022 16:22

Rosalind is lovely, very pretty. Like the nn Lindy, but find Rose and Rosa a bit bland which would put me off using the name.

Lloyd is a solid fine for me, nothing I can get excited over, but not bad.

As a pair I find Lloyd too similar in sound to Lind, so I wouldn't use the names together for twins. But no-one else has said this, so it might be a me thing.

toastofthetown · 03/10/2022 14:53

I love Rosalind. Lloyd feels quite dated and not pleasantly so to me.

Pugsbladder · 03/10/2022 14:52

Ah thanks for the responses. As with any names mixed which I expected. I was attacked by a boy called Trevor when I was a child so it's a name I have a bad association with.

Rosalind is ok, I'd shorten to Rosie, which I love.

Hate Lloyd, mainly because the only one I've known was an absolute knobhead. Sorry.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 03/10/2022 14:37

I like Rosalind, also Roselyn, Rosalie, Rosemund etc

Don't love Lloyd but it's alright! They go together fine I think

KirstenBlest · 03/10/2022 14:33

I've mentioned those two names quite a few times, although not for twins.

I don't like Rosalie

Dogtooth · 03/10/2022 14:30

I like Lloyd. Rosalind is a bit severe sounding for my liking, how about Rosalie?

LivingOnTheVeg · 03/10/2022 14:26

This is very specific but Bob Mortimer sang a song when he was on Taskmaster that contained the very catchy lyrics “Rosalind’s a fucking nightmare”, and I’m so sorry, but it’s all I think of now! 😂
