Opinions on the name Ford please? As a first name rather than middle name.
It's a family name and I'd love to use it.

Middle name Capri

ColeensBoot · 03/10/2022 14:12

Prefect as middle name?
Has a nice ring to it.
Do it.

My first thought was Ford Madox Ford 😀 Then Ford Prefect quite quickly after that 😬 There are better names out there.

YourLipsMyLips · 03/10/2022 13:57

I like it, I'm Scottish and it's not common here, but known. I was at school with two!

I only dislike it pronounces with a hard 'o' so that it rhymes with board.

RoseAndRose · 03/10/2022 13:57

Ford Prefect

I think I'd stick it in the middle

Yes.. I don’t think he’ll thank you

Fine as a middle name

I like the surnames as first names thing Americans do. When I think of an American Clarke, Ford, Hudson etc I think of a handsome, strong man but find it much harder too envision on a Brit. Perhaps it's time for that to change though..? Time they are a-changin'.

octoberfarm · 03/10/2022 13:25

Can I ask where you're located? I'm English but live in the US and whilst not common here, it is a used first name and it's well thought of as lovely and strong. We strongly considered using it (if I could face the feedback from my UK family and friends Grin) as it's a family name for us, too. All that to say, I really like it. I think as people got used to it, they'd probably come around and forget the car thing over time too.

DrDetriment · 03/10/2022 13:25

Surname Prefect?

Don't do it OP.

Ford Escort. Focus. Fiesta.
Forward, back a bit, it's in.

I think it might be quite handsome on an American but won't work here.

MumofSpud · 03/10/2022 13:19

I'd use it as a middle name

emmathedilemma · 03/10/2022 13:18
