Scottish boys names

Hi, me and my husband are trying to think of a good Scottish boys name for our baby due at the start of next year but we're struggling.

Callum, Cameron, Malcolm, Gregor and Ruairidh/Rory are all out for various reasons.

I like Fraser but my husband isn't keen. Only name we agree on is Ian but I'm worried it's a bit middle aged

Neither of us is keen on "new"/trendy names such as Struan or Lachlan.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I love Fraser. I know some, 1 mid thirties and 1 mid 40's. My little girl was playing with wee boy at soft play and he was Fraser. My dh also didn't like it much either. I love it and more so that it isn't popular.

My other fav is Lewis, it's quite popular here in Scotland. Callum lovely too and Cameron is another but not as popular these days. Angus is getting more popular know a few preschoolers with that name.

Another one that's maybe more out there but I once had a colleague called Crawford and he was lovely.

Ewan is nice.

sleepfortheweek · 27/09/2022 17:59

How about Connor?

Pruneaux · 27/09/2022 17:55

Ian is nice and so classic. One of my DCs has an Ian their class. Easy to spell too.

midsomermurderess · 27/09/2022 17:52

And Alistair and Alexander (Sandy).

midsomermurderess · 27/09/2022 17:51

I like Innes and Munro.

MarthaMayWhovier · 27/09/2022 17:15

I bloody hope Ian isn't a middle-aged name. There were multiple Ians in my class.

The Scottish names I like are Fergus, Hamish and Euan. I also like Gordon which might be too middle-aged for you.

horseymum · 27/09/2022 14:18

I didn't realise Struan was new and trendy! I know two and they are both middle aged!

It might not be new but I know of at least 5 Struans under 10 and it's just not for me.
