There's a Theodora at nursery, her nickname is Tick.
Which gives me the creeps.

So ignoring the great Byzantine empress and several saints of the early church, then?

😁😁😁

God you're stupid aren't you. Big difference between saying something IS made up and SOUNDS made up. Not backtracking you're just thick. Poor child has that terrible name for life. Enjoy 😉

You’re really not making yourself sound any less idiotic with these cringeworthy attempts at being offensive 😂😂

😂😂😂 You’re so funny. You literally said twice that it sounds made up and now you’re embarrassed that everyone knows it isn’t made up so you’re pretending you didn’t say it even though it’s literally written up thread 😂😂😂 You’re entitled to your opinion but I’m also entitled to think that the opinions of morons and trolls isn’t valuable and that I don’t care about it! Please go away now.

I really like it. There's a Netflix series with a character named Theo/Theodora. I think it's called haunting of hill house or similar. I would 100% use it but with Theo not Thea as shorthand.

Isn't it the name of the witch in wizard of oz? It may lead to a small amount of playground teasing there but what name doesn't.

I love this show! It’s actually based on an old book with characters who have the same names as the family in the TV series (although they aren’t related in the book). The book is where I first fell in love with Theodora and the the TV show reminded me!

Never said it was made up so maybe learn to read. If you can't handle peoples opinions then don't ask for them. I belive the name is awful and I'm entitled to think that, doesn't make me ignorant. Maybe stop worrying about the horrible name you're giving your child and work on the horrible attitude of the mother 😃

What a bizarre comment. I think it’s the epitome of a feminine name!

It’s also the name of many extraordinary people throughout history - saints and royalty and literary characters. Only an extremely ignorant person would think it was made up and to be honest there’s not much I can do about that 😂

Beautiful and lends itself to some lovely nicknames

Marcipex · 27/09/2022 13:45

It’s a bit fluffy and flabby.
And so many Theos pronounced Feo.

Dorothea is a bit jollier.

I know it's an old name but it still sounds made up and manly.

eleanorsmellstrop · 27/09/2022 13:42

Thank you for all the feedback everyone! I am happy to see so many people like it. And for once, the reasons people have given for liking it really don’t bother me/haven’t put me off the name at all - which I think has made me realise just how much I love it! As usually I’m so easily put off names - usually just one negative comment will ruin a name for me (I know, I know. Pathetic.) But this time I still love it! So even those of you who don’t like it have helped me to realise how much I love it , thank you!

Kindofcrunchy · 27/09/2022 13:40

Does kinda make me think of the kids TV show Wizardora Grin still like it though!

I don’t like it. Sounds clunky and makes me picture some ferocious Victorian headmistress.

It’s on trend though I suppose.

Ferocious Victorian headmistress sounds fab to me! 😁

LostInMeadows · 27/09/2022 07:16

Personally think it's awful. Sticking an A on the end of a man's name doesn't make it girly, there's so many nicer actual girls names out there.

Awful. Theo/Theodore is too popular. Thea is nothingy and lispy, and if Theodore wasn't bad enough, Theodora is too long and clumsy sounding. Dorothy is so much nicer and Dot is really cute
