I have several but Tycho and Ivar/Ivor are two of mine.

What are yours?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh I met a woman called Merryn and she was lovely and described it as "Like Merry Christmas, but with an N" so I've always liked that name ever since.

Idris and Heidi

Merryn - I love it and DH hates it. Hoping to use the emotional context of giving birth in a few weeks time to get it through. I am a bad person.

Chattycathydoll · 23/09/2022 15:42

Lol, I knew everyone would hate my baby name so I didn’t tell anyone until she was born and already called it ;) muhaha, too late for anyone to argue about it then!

I couldn’t allow myself to call her Celestine, though. It wouldn’t have suited her anyway but it is the frontrunner for my imaginary second I’m never giving birth to.

Nonibaloni · 23/09/2022 15:42

Fionnuala was my only choice for a girl, but I’m drowning in boys.

Norrie, Ennis or Jean-Baptiste for boys but stupid Dh felt he should have some say.

Riapia · 23/09/2022 15:38

Gloria.

Isis

For obvious reasons... but its a lovely girl's name!

ReeseWitherfork · 23/09/2022 15:34

Frances. Perfectly normal name but people seem to hate it. I love it. 2xDD and DH wouldn’t even consider it.

Anneliese
Genevieve
Ursula

DDs say they are very grateful that I did not go with these choices. 😀

If ds had been a dd then he was going to be an ursula! So many people hated the name but I loved it so so much .

Love Story and Lysander.

My ‘pregnancy hormones’ names were

Mahalia (I think Miss Jackson, others thought chlamydia, gonorrhea, mahalia)

Loveday (not Cornish)

Justice (DH laughed hard)

(So dated . . . Are you having a baby or an accountant? Guess he'll drive a Volvo then?)

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/09/2022 15:26

It's not my favourite male name, but I've never got why so many people loathe the name Nigel. I rather like it. Also Humphrey.

Demelza...
Instant veto from DH!
... one day might be a cat though :)

The whole point of having pets is so we can give them the names we wouldn't dare give our children. Like Gertrude, Giles, Lilith and Jemima. My children are grateful that they got solidly top ten English names, so they tell me. I still say my son would make a good Dudley, but he won't have it 😅

Canany1cme · 23/09/2022 15:19

Tryphina but DH said no.

To be fair we used it for the cat who is known as Feefee, so probably for the best.

TightDiamondShoes · 23/09/2022 15:17

Gideon.

Incrediblebuttrue · 23/09/2022 15:16

Ethel - ripe for revival!

Clementine (don't know if everyone hates it but DH did!).

Mind you, DD is Juno which gets quite a mixed reception here too. I love it, though.
