I have several but Tycho and Ivar/Ivor are two of mine.

What are yours?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ein · 23/09/2022 20:04

Kaiden. I was going to use it until I found out it’s got um associations. I just found it in a dictionary.

Some of these names are SO popular on Mumsnet! I've never seen a bad word said about:

Annaliese

Clementine

Cicely

Moses

Manon

Marina

Every time these names are mentioned everyone loves them!

The names I love that everyone hates are Martha, Winifred, Ursula.

Toseland (from Green Knowe)

I always loved the name Linnet from Green Knowe. L names don't work with my surname unfortunately. Those books were some of my childhood favourites.

Glowinglights · 23/09/2022 18:07

Love the name Doris - was not allowed to use it!

simonthedog · 23/09/2022 18:07

Diggory, but alas no boys.

DameHelena · 23/09/2022 18:06

I know a little Hebe. It's beautiful and I think it's cute for a child and then will seem elegant and interesting when she's an adult too.

Ilostmysocks · 23/09/2022 18:06

Wella (cornish for William)

monicagellerbing · 23/09/2022 18:05

Indigo

neerg · 23/09/2022 18:04

Rachel.
It is so 'clean'...

ByTheGrace · 23/09/2022 18:04

Liberty. It goes horribly with my surname, so it was never a serious contender, but I've always loved it.
A pp mentioned Ivar, I love that too, but there are a few about where I live, so I don't think it falls into the hated category.
Also love place name, first names, but didn't go there either. Lincoln, India, Dakota and finally Mercedes (but not after the car!).

NoddingTulip · 23/09/2022 18:03

Horatio
Gaius
Rupert
Julius
Colin

Hebe
Angela
Susan
Octavia
Deborah

There are several lovely names on this thread.

ShirleyJackson · 23/09/2022 18:01

Lyric for a girl.

MooseBreath · 23/09/2022 17:57

Mumsnet hate: Trevor, Gwendolyn, Ursula

DH hate: Trevor, Gerard "Gerry", Linus, Saoirse

Purpletopaz42 · 23/09/2022 17:30

Magnolia, as in the tree with the beautiful flowers. I think people think of the paint colour instead, so doesn't get used much.

Also Contessa, which I think is really lovely but when I've mentioned it to anyone, they're not keen at all. Not actually sure why, maybe it's just a bit old fashioned.

They're still two of my favourite names though

Always loved olive but found it got such a mixed reception especially with older generation. Do feel sad I’ll never have my own little olive. Will have to get a dog!

Lilacsunflowers · 23/09/2022 16:53

Most names on this thread are really beautiful and much more memorable than the top 10 names like Oliver, Jack or Olivia!
