Ruth due a comeback?

Wondering about the name Ruth and if it’s due a comeback. Pregnant with first daughter and really taken with the name Ruth nn Ruthie

It does sound like a dog's bark. It's so harsh and unfeminine. And the 'th' often gets mispronounced.

I used to know a really horrible girl called Ruth. God she was such a bitch. It's a definite no from me.

I know a primary age Ruth and she’s an absolute star, so I love it because it reminds me of her.

I knew a Ruth from uni and didn't like her, nor her name. Plus one of my first work colleagues was a Ruth - she thought she was my boss and very obviously didn't like me. Cow. Sorry do not like the name at all.

Has a lovely meaning from the Hebrew “re'ut” meaning ‘friend, companion’.
Is the name of a Biblical book. A beautiful Bible story to go with it!

I don’t like it at all. I know quite a few Ruth’s actually. We have a large Jewish community here though.

I like it (maybe biased!) It's a pain to pronounce on the phone - everyone thinks you've said Rhys or similar, especially if you pronounce it with a 'th' sound not 'f.'

I can't see that it isn't due a comeback - names like Theo, Thea and Seth are popular on here, as are Reuben, Rufus and Ruby. Biblical/OT names are popular.

I've never liked it, until I watched Ozark, and one of the main characters is Ruth, and she's made me warm to the name.

Its a cute name 😊 you can check popularity on a shade greener I think, but its definitely not overused.

It's called dark greener, not shade greener.

I like Ruth and would definitely consider using it, as long as no one called her Ruthie which is godawful.
Verity is nice as well.

Sorry to be so blunt, but varied views and all that.

I agree with this and it's my name 😆. I still look at it written down and to me it doesn't even look like a name, just a noise. I often wonder what my parents were thinking. My sibling have really interesting names too!
