Evereigh or Aliannah

I do prefer less common names and have been looking online and come across these. I like modern names more than the classic top 10 names like olivia, lily etc… Aliannah can be shortened to Ali for a nickname which i like. Everleigh isn’t very common over here in the UK but quite well known in the US which i dosent bother me too much. Which one do you prefer?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Neither.

I like Aliana though.

I like that too!

Everleigh is one of those names that sounds/looks similar to lots of other other popular names (Eveline, Evie, Ava), and will be very popular going forward because a lot of people will be looking for a name that sounds similar to Evelyn. I wouldn't pick it if you don't want a popular name. Also, " 'eavily pregnant." I'm not a fan.

Aliannah is a bit... frilly and the spelling/pronunciation will cause issues. How about something a bit simpler than shortens to Ali?

UserError012345 · 20/09/2022 21:37

Sorry neither. I'm pleased you didn't suggest Nevaeh (heaven backwards)

Snugglemonkey · 20/09/2022 21:36

I really dislike both names.

Choconut · 20/09/2022 21:35

If you didn't want Ali as a nickname you could go with Alien - that was my first thought when I saw Aliannah.
They sound like they're 'younique' names which basically screams chav unfortunately.

Everleigh is ghastly

Aliannah a bit better but I think would be constantly written as Alannah

I thought exactly the same as this!

I think Alannah is nicer anyway.

Everleigh sounds like an insurance firm to me.

Wouldn’t choose either.

Me neither…,proper naff names

purpleme12 · 20/09/2022 21:29

If I had a child I would likely call her Everleigh (or Everlie I'd have to think about the spelling really 🤣)
I love it so much

MangosteenSoda · 20/09/2022 21:27

The spellings will be a headache (and look a bit twee imo).

As pps have said, Everly and Aliana are better.

Queenieloveforever · 20/09/2022 21:19

strong dislike for everleigh. With every spelling! Everley is awful with so many Es it just looks ridiculous. Just really dislike it.

AmberGer · 20/09/2022 17:36

Eliana is nicer than either of those

kuvira · 20/09/2022 16:17

I can't say I love either. They both strike me as being made-up names (are they?), which perhaps doesn't have the best connotation in this country. I can understand not wanting to use an popular name, but there are ways of finding an unusual name without going down the "made-up" or "odd spelling" routes. Aliannah (my phone autocorrected it to Alannah, BTW) will get "Alannah?" or "Eliana?" or "Ariana?" a lot.

caitlinrose · 19/09/2022 18:53

They are a bit trendy.

I would change the spellings to Everly and Aliana.

I'd pick Everly.

Other suggestions:

Eliana (I like this better than Aliana)
Eliora
Beverly, Beverley

mathanxiety · 19/09/2022 17:36

I always think Everleigh would be a good name for a nursing home.

Alianna is much nicer, but your child will have to correct a lot of people who think it's Arianna.

villamariavintrapp · 19/09/2022 16:20

It's funny that Everly is quite popular these days, while Beverly not at all. Poor old Bev.

Iliana is a pretty name. Spanish, I think

I have a daughter named this with a slightly different spelling.

It is a name heard in Latin America, Spain, Italy, and Romania. My parents are Mexican so I thought I would honor my heritage with her name.

@chardie87

My daughter was born in England (she's 21), her father is English, so you could only imagine the strange pronunciation she's received over the years from people in the UK. It's nice that other people have heard it in England.

FredrikaPeri · 19/09/2022 15:42

Ayanah is also nice.

FredrikaPeri · 19/09/2022 15:40

Alana is nice

Skinnybluebody · 19/09/2022 15:40

GreenTeaPingPong · 18/09/2022 21:26

So if she has two male siblings they'll be the Everleigh Brothers?

GrinGrin

FruitPastilleNut · 19/09/2022 15:38

Absolutely horrific, tacky names, both of them. Sorry op but there's no nice way to say it.

crumpet · 19/09/2022 15:36

Yesthatismychildsigh · 19/09/2022 15:36

Terrible. Both of them.

passport123 · 19/09/2022 15:36

Would you like to have either of these names and spend your life correcting spelling?

Caspianberg · 19/09/2022 15:35

Evelyn or Alannah

’Unusual’ spellings usually just mean the parents didn’t know how to spell or wanted a normal name spelt ‘different’

like James spelt Gj’aimes
