Evereigh or Aliannah

I do prefer less common names and have been looking online and come across these. I like modern names more than the classic top 10 names like olivia, lily etc… Aliannah can be shortened to Ali for a nickname which i like. Everleigh isn’t very common over here in the UK but quite well known in the US which i dosent bother me too much. Which one do you prefer?

Would you like to be called either of those names? Unless you want your kid to spend their life saying 'no, it's not spelled that way' I'd avoid both.

MrsWarboysHandGrenade · 07/11/2022 13:33

I prefer the spellings Everly and Alianna….With Aliannah there’s more nickname options (plus we used to have an incredibly nosey neighbour called Beverley so any similar names remind me of her)

donquixotedelamancha · 07/11/2022 13:27

Unless you have US, trailer trash roots (or a cultural connection, e.g. you met your husband on Jerry Springer) I feel like using either of these names would be cultural appropriation.

RambamThankyouMam · 07/11/2022 13:20

They're very... American.

😐

Axahooxa · 07/11/2022 12:53

Aliana (agree with pp on simpler spelling) is nice.

IsThePopeCatholic · 07/11/2022 12:50

Not a fan of either.

Dogtooth · 07/11/2022 12:29

Both bad I'm afraid. I don't see how you can like uncommon names, surely you like names for how they sound, no matter how common they are? Liking something purely because it's uncommon is a bit daft, Blodgetywallop is an uncommon name but it's not a good one.

Everleigh sounds like the kind of name you'd have on a Victorian/Edwardian terraced house to make it sound romantic. Aliannah is just bad.

Having to spell your name out over and over is really tedious OP, by all means go for a less used name but you won't do your kid any favours with these.

ShandaLear · 07/11/2022 12:11

They sound like stripper stage names.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 07/11/2022 12:09

I can't stand Everleigh. It's an American influence that I hope curls up into a ball and disappears. Aliannah is just horribly fussy though spelt like that.

Heldathunpoint2022 · 07/11/2022 06:59

I imagine most people would think her name is Emily.

CantSleepCountingSheep · 07/11/2022 06:49

Don't like them much sorry.
Aliannah is better.

Prefer Alana though.

Jaminas · 06/11/2022 18:36

Maybe someone only just saw it?

caitlinrose · 06/11/2022 17:58

Just saw that I already answered a few weeks ago.

I really don't understand why people would bump threads that are this old, it's rather annoying.

Jamimas · 06/11/2022 17:58

I'm not keen on either

BeanieTeen · 06/11/2022 17:57

Neither.

caitlinrose · 06/11/2022 17:56

May I suggest Eliana? It looks correct to me and has a nice meaning.

Everly is nice too, though.

As far as trendy names go I also like Hadley. It means "heather field". And I have a soft spot for Madison and Aubrey.

NC12345665 · 06/11/2022 17:55

Both names have 16 & Pregnant/Teen Mom vibes.

caitlinrose · 06/11/2022 17:54

Aliannah always looks wrong to me, no matter the spelling. Aliannah looks like too much and Aliana like too little and Alianna looks out of balance. As there is no established spelling she'll always have to spell it out which will be annoying. Ali is boring. I know lots of guys named this (pr. ah-lee) and lots of girls (pr. like Allie), short for Alyssa, Alicia, Alice, Alexandra etc. It's a really bland name, in my opinion. I'd spell it Allie so it will look more feminine.

Everly sounds kind of cute (reminds me of "forever" and "ever") but Everleigh looks trendy to me. I'd pick Everly, this spelling.

They both give me teen-mum vibes, which isn't a bad thing, but I do believe there actually was a child called Aliannah on "Teen Mom" and there is a famous teen mum on youtube who has an Everly. I always check which names were used on the show because they usually explode in popularity in the US which is interesting to observe.

Lulu1919 · 06/11/2022 17:51

I know an Everly who is in her 40s
And I know an Alianna who is late 20s

drpet49 · 06/11/2022 17:48

WhackingPhoenix · 18/09/2022 21:42

Both dreadful.

This.

Ihavehadenoughalready · 06/11/2022 17:37

How about just Ever?

I prefer Arianna to Aliannah, but if you want Ali for a nickname, maybe Alice? Alicia? Allison?

VickyT1864 · 06/11/2022 16:52

Everleigh is a beautiful name and I prefer that spelling as well. Aliannah is nice too! Ali is a cute nickname. For me Everleigh but that’s just because it’s on my list as well.

Ein · 22/09/2022 23:01

My eyes keep trying to turn the word Aliannah into the word Allah. It looks like a mispelling.

Maybe Alanna?

Or Everleigh is ok.

dontyouwishyourgirlfriendwas · 22/09/2022 22:10

They’re both absolutely horrendous. Why would you inflict either of those names on a child? A Barbie doll, maybe, but not an actual living breathing human being. Some names are unusual for a good reason.

Alannah or Evelyn I’d say would be better but similar alternatives.

cocococococococo · 21/09/2022 06:47

Both spellings are a bit... I'm sorry to say this but i can't think of a better word... chavvy.

Despite this, Everley is actually quite a nice name when spelled correctly. It's not rare or uncommon though, if that's what you're going for. And the meaning of the name is apparently 'boar in a meadow' which isn't the nicest I've ever heard.

Aliannah I really dislike. It looks and sounds like 'Alien' and she might get bullied for that. It also looks made up. It's a bit common IMO. I can't think of anything nice to say about the name - I don't like the spelling, the sound, any of it. According to naming sites, it's basically a misspelled version of Eliana.

If you want Ali for a nickname there are LOADS of nicer names out there.

Of the two I'd definitely choose Everley.
