Baby girl due soon we are stuck on these names to give her for a first name. We want one starting with the letter R. Which one of these names do you like best? If there are other name suggestions that begin with R that would be helpful. Thanks

Rosie, Rosalie, or Remi

Drlovestrong · 21/04/2023 13:27

Rachel

Was going to call my firstborn Ruby but turned out to be a boy. I really hate the name Ruby now but genuinely love Rachel. Would call a future daughter Rachel for sure.

Rose, Rosie, Ruby, Roxanne...

Maybe Ria but not Rhea!

@Theoldwoman , it's a very old Welsh name and sounds different in Welsh.
Think about it, you've heard Fleetwood Mac's Sara.

RH is one letter and sounds like you're saying R and H at exactly the same time, and the 'on' part is like in the English word 'on', so it's not like Ree Annun.

It's from Pwyll Pendefig Dyfed, but as much as I like the name Pwyll, I don't think it travels well - the 'wy' and 'll' don't have an english equivalent.
Dons tin hat and awaits a barrage of 'Yes, they do', they don't

Rachel (this spelling.)
Rosie.

Also Rosalie and Ruth,

Crunchymum · 19/04/2023 13:43

Rachael - Nice enough
Rosie - Prefer Rose or Rosa
Ria - sounds a bit incomplete
Raya - as above, doesn't quite sound like a full name
Ruby - may fave
Raven - - a little too bohemian for my taste
Roxy - okay, will full name be Roxanne?
Rhianna - no, too closer linked with signer.

Fifthtimelucky · 19/04/2023 13:20

My favourite R names are Rebecca, Rose, Rosamund and Rachael.

@Theoldwoman , strictly speaking, Rhiannon doesn't start with R. Rh is a separate letter and sound in Welsh

Really? Interesting! My DD middle name is Rhiannon after Fleetwood Mac!
