Short Irish Boys names - suggestions?

Daydreaming about boys names - Irish but living in Scotland with the possibility of moving back in a few years. Have a Conall already

Like but don’t love:
Dara
Aodh
Eoin/Eoghan
Brian (wouldn’t use it outside of Ireland I don’t think)
Shay

Does anyone have any suggestions we could add to the list? Preferably short names I think

I am Irish, living in England and have a Shay (nn for Seamus). We chose it as it was a name that was common enough that he wouldn’t have to spell it every time. I loved names like Diarmuid but know that would be tricky in England.

He is 10 and is the only Shay in his school. Only 3 other Seamuses in our town (of about 15,000). So, manageable, but not too common.

would you think about Dermot? Easy for people in UK but good strong name.

Liam is actually growing in popularity in lreland at the moment probably because it's a lovely name. But don't expect it to be rare if you come back.

TADHG is correct spelling.

There is no correct alternative. Everything else is wrong.

It is not Tadgh or Thagdh or any other variation.

I was coming on to say Cormac and Lorcan. I babysat twins with those names and they've always stuck in my head. Travel well too.

If you go for Tadhg definitely be sure to put the h in the right place - even on this thread too many people are spelling it wrong so that might give you an indication of how much trouble you'd have with it irl. I don't think it sounds like taig though, none of the Tadhgs I've known have had the piss taken out of them for that as far as I know

I think that's a mispronunciation rather than an accent thing? There's an 'ay' sound in Séamus, like in hay or may.

Oh thanks I’m glad I posted. really like Enda but have never known any so still automatically think Kenny. Like Niall too and think it probably travels better than a lot of my other faves (Donnacha, Daithi)

Have Cillian, Cian and Cormacs in close friends/family, also Aidans and a Rory.

Good point about Oran in Scotland too!

Shay a girls name? I live in Ireland and I honestly have never heard a girl called Shay.

Also I wouldn’t class it chavvy.
