Perfect if you're giving birth to a labrador

JustACupofCoffee · 06/09/2022 21:29

My dogs called Rex

scrivette · 06/09/2022 20:28

I know a Rex and I like it, he loves dinosaurs and guess which one is his favourite?!

MassiveSalad22 · 06/09/2022 20:26

Rafe just makes me think of a scrotal raphe 🙃🙃 I only know what that is because my son has one, good old Google! Sorry to all the parents of little Rafeys!!

Toy story ruined it for me 🤷‍♀️
Rex is always going to be a chubby green T. rex

Luredbyapomegranate · 06/09/2022 20:05

Only if your baby barks

But other than that it’s quite low rent and/or trying hard to be cool.

Rufus, Rafe??

Rex is a good name. I don't associate it with dogs at all. I associate it with Sophocles.

ancientgran · 06/09/2022 18:39

I used to work with a Rex. He was a bit of a dirty old man and was known to one and all as Sexy Rex which he loved. I think it is a nice name really but for me it will always have that connection.

StampOnTheGround · 06/09/2022 18:39

I like it, also love Max

Glitterspy · 06/09/2022 18:36

We had a Rex in our year at high school (in the 1990s)…it rhymes with sex. That kept us in jokes for the entire 7 years. Just don’t do it to your child!

Riapia · 06/09/2022 18:24

It’s a name that needs to be shouted for best effect.

ILoveYoga · 06/09/2022 18:20

Sorry. Can only think of a very large and aggressive dog.

TallulahBetty · 06/09/2022 18:19

Dog.

nlr1 · 06/09/2022 18:18

As a nickname it would be cute but it doesn’t feel like a proper name to me

Beetlewings · 06/09/2022 18:16

Too harsh and barky. Imagine calling the poor lad in the playground 😕

partlyponder · 06/09/2022 18:14

The kid's going to get bullied. Woof woof!

9thlife · 06/09/2022 18:14

Rex the runt, every time. I just cannot stop hearing it.

Snugglemonkey · 06/09/2022 18:10

Another in the dog name camp sorry.

fallfallfall · 06/09/2022 17:58

I thought Rex was a nn for Reginald.

ohsuzannah · 06/09/2022 17:53

Love it 😊

toastofthetown · 06/09/2022 17:39

I know dogs called Jasper, Robert, and Lucy, but none called Rex. Rex is a fine name. Trendy at the moment with the x and rising quickly so might not be a unusual as some would think, but I quite like it.

I think
T
Dog
Oedipus

So it’s a no from me.

I laughed at Oedipus! 😂

PopcornParty · 06/09/2022 17:33

Very cool name!!!

noclothesinbed · 06/09/2022 17:32

German shepherd

Lyla82 · 06/09/2022 17:28

It's a good strong name! Love it.

You can use any 'human' name for a dog now. I know dogs called Jasmine, George, Molly, Ben etc, so I wouldn't worry about those comments.
