The name Zelda...

I like that's it's spunky and easy to spell.

What do you think?

I know a Zelda

GlassDeli · 04/09/2022 11:38

I don't like it. It sounds like a manipulative fortune teller with cold eyes. I assume it derives from Griselda, which is even worse and reminds me of gristle and grizzle.

Margo34 · 04/09/2022 11:18

Perfectly useable name. I know a 3m old Zelda (with sister Xanthe).

MrsMop1964 · 03/09/2022 20:32

reminds me of Terrahawks.. Kids now wouldn't ever have heard of it though

This!

I do like the name objectively, but all I can see is this hideous puppet!

Titsflyingsouth · 04/09/2022 10:34

Totally useable. Not my cup of tea but not eyebrow-raising either...

Cleopatra67 · 04/09/2022 08:27

It was the name of F Scott Fitzgerald’s wife.

Touga · 04/09/2022 08:26

It just sounds really 'wizardy' to me
Not fond of it personally

EleanorShellstrop28 · 04/09/2022 08:18

I too associate it with the glamorous 1920s, I assume because of Zelda Fitzgerald but because of this association the name Zelda seems very cool to me. I imagine a Zelda to be (like Zelda Fitzgerald) hanging out in cafes in Paris in the 1920s, smoking cigarettes and drinking and laughing all night surrounded by great novelists and poets and artists. It's on a lot of 'Hipster Baby Name' lists, I assume for this reason and also the video game connection. I like it!

Hobbesmanc · 04/09/2022 08:06

There was a Zerelda Brass in Malory Towers. Just popped in my mind although it was years since I last read them. I think she was like her name. Brassy and American

custardbear · 04/09/2022 07:16

Wasn't one of Robin Williams children called Zelda? It's different but nice and definitely useable

Mol1628 · 04/09/2022 06:47

I like it! I’m not sure I’d want to be an adult called Zelda though.

husbandcallsmepickle · 04/09/2022 06:45

I know a Zelda (age 2!)

Andromachehadabadday · 04/09/2022 06:27

I know quite a few Zeldas. Ranging from late 30s down to a baby. Very useable.

Snowiscold · 04/09/2022 06:25

Very useable. I think F Scott Fitzgerald.

CastleTower · 04/09/2022 05:41

Yep I know a baby Zelda.

Biscuitandacuppa · 03/09/2022 22:27

I know a Zelda who is 8, her parents are big Legend of Zelda fans. It’s a nice name.

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/09/2022 21:34

Quite like it - it’s sparky.

It was F Scott Fitzgerald’s wife’s name, so it’s very roaring 20s

Dreamingcats · 03/09/2022 21:34

I love it. I think 1920s glamour.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 03/09/2022 20:38

F Scott Fitzgerald's wife. Glamorous yet ultimately very sad life.

And the computer game.

(And randomly I know that Robin Williams' daughter is called Zelda)

But yeah, still a useable name I think.

Whowhatwherewhenwhynow · 03/09/2022 20:35

I just think “legend of…” too

coldcaff · 03/09/2022 20:35

Yes! I like it. Different without being too different.

Ship · 03/09/2022 20:34

I also think of aunt Zelda from Sabrina. I don’t love it but it’s definitely usable

MrsMop1964 · 03/09/2022 20:32

reminds me of Terrahawks.. Kids now wouldn't ever have heard of it though

Rhaenys · 03/09/2022 20:27

I really like it. I think very few names a genuinely unusable.

Snugglemonkey · 03/09/2022 20:24

When I was at school, our dinner lady was called Zelda.
