Azim is nice too but too similar to other children in my immediate family.

I like Haris and Zaviyar from your list.

Azeem is my partners name, it means Defender in Arabic. Azim is another option - Great/Magnificent/Protector.

KnottyKnitting · 02/09/2022 12:12

Keyan^

KnottyKnitting · 02/09/2022 11:31

I like Yakoub, Kenyan and Adam from your list.

Names I like from Asian families I know are Rayan, Arham and Armaz

Discombobulatedfrenzy · 02/09/2022 11:19

Yacoub is my favourite from your list.

Discombobulatedfrenzy · 02/09/2022 09:58

Zaviyar is pronounced like caviar.
I like it but it'll never get pronounced right

OP posts:
Mannymoomin · 02/09/2022 00:49

Zaviyar is my favourite on there, but agree it could get very easily confused with Xavier.
I have a Tariq Zayne which is ages to agree on, I think Muslim boys are much harder to name than girls.

Shmithecat2 · 02/09/2022 00:16

Love Adahm (pronounced the Arabic way). I like Hamza too. I know 2 boys called Hamza, they're delightful. You didn't ask for suggestions but Omar is lovely too.

ForPeaceSake · 02/09/2022 00:12

Hamza was the prophet's uncle and it's a very popular name. Among Muslims no one would immediately think Abu Hamza who's been out of the news for a long time and won't be known by the time your baby grows up.

I think Zaviar might get confused with Xavier and people would be unsure how to pronounce the first letter. But if you like the name I'd go with the other spelling so it won't get rhymed with 'caviar.'

GingerPigz · 01/09/2022 19:43

I like Yaqoob and Haris... Zafar sounds like Zatar. Adam is average and common. Not so keen on any of the others and dislike Hamza for the reasons already stated. I LOVE the Arabic names Luai and Laith.

Sa79au · 01/09/2022 17:30

Yusuf is beautiful - sorry not on your list Yaqub is nice

Cindie943811A · 01/09/2022 17:19

I feel the same way about Hamza as many do about the name Myra.
A shame but that’s the way it is.
I have always been fond of the name Adam. A strong name, easy to say and spell .

@Discombobulatedfrenzy
Keyaan isn't the normal English spelling. It's Kian.

She isn't looking for an anglicised version, me and possibly others just mentioned it might get pronounced as akian rather than Keyaan. This is Baby Names, no AIBU

Discombobulatedfrenzy · 01/09/2022 12:32

@hedgehogger1 that's exactly what I said to dh. It's a lovely name otherwse

Macarena1990 · 01/09/2022 11:15

Adam is my favourite from your list.

I also love Omar, Ira, Kareem, Kamal, Hakim and Danyal

hedgehogger1 · 01/09/2022 11:07

Hamza makes me think of Abu Hamza.

Discombobulatedfrenzy · 01/09/2022 10:21

You're looking at the name kian...its a different name.
Anyway you seem to be wanting to argue...
Anybody else have thoughts on the other names?
Didn't realise above didn't post properly, dh has realised his cousins child is names zafar so that's now out.

@Discombobulatedfrenzy not in Persian it isn't https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kian(givenn_name)

Discombobulatedfrenzy · 01/09/2022 09:57

Kian means ancient, keyaan means crown or king.

OP posts:
Butterfly44 · 01/09/2022 09:25

However you want to spell it. The name is the same/same meaning and written one way in Farsi. Other cultures, Indian etc choose your spelling version more. Good luck with your final choice.

Discombobulatedfrenzy · 01/09/2022 09:19

Adam and zaviar are my favourites the rest are dhs choices however I feel zaviyar looks made up too.
I know of one though. A Pakistani boy and he's 14 now.

Keyaan - might get Anglicised to Kian, I assume your name has a longer sound at the end. It's nice though.
Adam/Adahm - retro for England but perfectly decent. I'd prob drop the h tho
Haris -, fine
Zaviyar/zaviar - as a Mom to a a xavier, I vote this one
Zafar - isn't he the baddy in Alladin?
Hamza - not keen
Yaqoub - like the sound but will be a lifetime of how do you spell it and say it

Discombobulatedfrenzy · 01/09/2022 09:12

It's not kian!
The name is keyaan with a long Aah sound...completely different name
