It's not actually a name but I think it should be. It's very pretty. NN Glacie

Cassia?

Reminds me of my 80s cassette player 😕

GlassDeli · 02/09/2022 22:56

Cassia?

Emmelina · 02/09/2022 22:05

Sounds like a Pokémon or cute fluffy white animal companion.

Wirewool · 02/09/2022 22:05

Hilarious. Oooft my sides.

keep em coming OP.

Sounds like Aldi's next ice cream brand.

Haha, I thought this too. Like an Aldi knockoff of an Italian ice cream brand. Or possibly an air freshener. Anyway, please don’t, it’s awful. If you like wintry nature names choose a more well known one!

I really like it! I also like Alaska and Aliska. nn Alice

This really seems like a wind up

HuggyWuggy · 02/09/2022 21:29

Are you the same poster who wanted to name their child Tarancia not long ago? If so, then please choose a sensible name. Any made up name with 'cia' at the end will sound ridiculous and your poor child will be bullied.

peaceinourtime · 01/09/2022 03:45

I think Acacia is a better name if you want a nature sounding name. Glacia (Glacier) is awful and also settles you up for being referred to as 'your a cold person like a glacier or you're as cold as ice. Its a good pet name as mentioned on here.

godmum56 · 31/08/2022 22:34

Aliska is the normal option? I have got a middling common name and it hasn't stopped me having an identity! Its a bit sad IMO to feel that you are only your name.

ImPickleRickSpartacus · 31/08/2022 21:09

pandageeka · 31/08/2022 15:46

I have an unusual name and my sister doesnt. My sister has always said she feels cheated because my name is unique and original and I am the only one we know with it. I have always felt sad for my sister being one of three in her class with the same name. Having a unique name enabled me to create an identity and I love it. I'm not pregnant but hope to be in the near future. I have always struggled to find an unusual girls name I like as much as my own. The idea behind Aliska is that my future daughter could have a normal nn if she didn't want an unusual name.

What's your name then, op? I bet it's nowhere near as stupid as Glacia.
Find an unusual name that won't hold her back in life.

Sandysandwich · 31/08/2022 21:02

Alaska sounds sort of cool as a name and I like unusual names, but Glasia does not - sounds like a person who fits double glazing.
And its not at easy to guess your pronounciation
Glay-zhur
Glassier
Glah- zia
Glaz- ia
Glay-seea
Glacier
Glah-shah
There are other words that could make a snow/ ice/mountain name if you wanted that sort of vibe like Alaska
Firn
Neve
Floe
Corrie
Arctica
Nanda
Delta

Biscuitsneeded · 31/08/2022 21:02

Don't be silly OP.

Luredbyapomegranate · 31/08/2022 20:41

Also, what is the point of calling your kid Aliska, presumably because Alaska isn’t weird enough for you, and then calling her the nice but dull and overused Alice???

Do you have hypothermia OP? Your thought process is a bit… slushy

Luredbyapomegranate · 31/08/2022 20:37

pandageeka · 31/08/2022 15:25

I really like it! I also like Alaska and Aliska. nn Alice

There are loads of unusual names OP, don’t make her go through life with everyone wondering if her parents went to Alaska for a dirty weekend

Luredbyapomegranate · 31/08/2022 20:36

I prefer Glacial I think, for more full chill, Glacia is a bit girly

containsnuts · 31/08/2022 15:51

I just hear Glacier or Glacial which makes me think of something huge and slow.

If it's the sound you like how about Gracie or Lacey?

Why give them a name with a completely different nickname? Why not call them Alice in the first place?

viques · 31/08/2022 15:36

Go for it , unless your surname is Mint.

ImPickleRickSpartacus · 31/08/2022 15:31

Change your name to Glacia then if you like it so much. Don't inflict the stupid name on a baby.

SleepingAgent · 31/08/2022 15:31

MmeMeursault · 31/08/2022 13:42

Yep and siblings could be called Volcano and Rockface and maybe there could be an Oxbow Lake

Go for it.

Snort! Are the cousins Sedimentary and Igneous? Grin

Purpleavocado · 31/08/2022 15:28

Sounds like an iceberg.
I wouldn't want to be named after a giant lump of dirty ice
