I love Helena and Miriam and like Marianne. Stella is ok. You have great taste!

pitterypattery00 · 29/08/2022 17:42

Love Marianne and Miriam.

Not keen on Helena or Stella.

If you like Marianne and Miriam, you might like Merryn/Merrin?

EleanorShellstrop28 · 29/08/2022 17:20

Miriam - love! Strong and biblical and rare
Stella reminds me of a bulldog too - because it's the name of the dog on Modern Family and now her ugly cute face comes to mind whenever I hear the name!
Helena - beautiful, classic, wonderful Saint namesake, love nn Nell.
Marianne - I slightly prefer Marianna but Marianne is beautiful and romantic and has an elegant vintage feel.

blameitonthecaffeine · 29/08/2022 14:51

I love Miriam.

The others aren't to my taste but are all good, strong yet elegant names.

Lullabies2Paralyze · 29/08/2022 14:51

Stella reminds me of the French bulldog from modern family. It’s a nice name otherwise haha

Luredbyapomegranate · 29/08/2022 14:49

They are all lovely, other than Miriam, which is OK. This would be the order for me:

Marianne
Stella
Helena
Miriam - Maryam or Marianne are much prettier IMO

wishing3 · 29/08/2022 09:47

Ha! Thanks all. It seems I have quite marmite tastes.

  1. Stella, 2. Helena, 3. Marianne, 4. Miriam.

I love the first three, but Miriam to me is a whingy and downtrodden 50 year old. I don't know why. Actually she is Moses' sister in the Bible and a strong and brave woman. Maybe I'm scarred with an early memory of a Miriam 🤷🏿

Merryclaire · 29/08/2022 07:35

Marianne is a lovely name think about what you can shorten it to that’s nice. I’ve only known it shorten to Maz, which is pretty harsh sounding. Mari?

Helena is a nice name too. I knew one who just used the full version, as a bit like Helen it’s hard to shorten.

Stella sounds a bit harsh to my ear. Miriam sounds like someone who would be really difficult and spoiled!

KirstenBlest · 29/08/2022 07:32

Miriam - like but don't love
Stella - like but don't like Stel.
Helena - much prefer Helen. Helen-a/Helaina/Helina issues
Marianne - ok

Helen would be my first choice, then Stella or Miriam

Mumofgirls2017 · 29/08/2022 07:30

Miriam- no, dated 2/10
Stella- quite like but unfortunately associated with beer 6/10
Helena- love 9/10
Marianne- no, dated 1/10

Lunabun · 29/08/2022 06:29

Love them all! My favourites in order;

  • Miriam (adore this name)
  • Stella
  • Helena
  • Marianne
CraftyClara · 29/08/2022 06:26

I like all of them. Makes a nice change from all of the Olivias, Evies etc

TidyDancer · 29/08/2022 06:19

Helena is the nicest by miles (but only pronounced Helen-er, the other way makes my teeth itch, sorry!). Really lovely name.

The others are okay but just not to my taste.

Mummytobe333 · 29/08/2022 05:27

Think we have very different taste in names sorry think they all sound really old lady! If I was pushed I would say Stella is the nicest - but just reminds me of beer sorry

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 29/08/2022 02:21
  1. Helena -lovely, very elegant
  2. Marianne -sweet, romantic feel

  4. Miriam - not keen on the sound
Linnet · 29/08/2022 01:25

Helena- again love this name
Miriam- nice
Marianne- don’t like this at all

mathanxiety · 29/08/2022 01:22

In order:
Stella
Helena
Miriam

Marianne

Pemba · 29/08/2022 01:19

They're all lovely names. Marianne is perhaps my favourite. Miriam perhaps my least favourite, but still nice. You have great taste!
I knew some people wouldn't like Stella, and I bet you anything it's because of the lager. God, people are tediously predictable and lack imagination. Stella is a lovely classic name meaning 'star' as I'm sure you know. There's also Estella which is lovely, and there's Estelle too.

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 29/08/2022 01:18

not names I'd personally choose, but..

Helena -by miles. No matter how you want it pronounced. (I prefer hell aye nah)

The other three in no particular order, realky dislike them all sorry.

SequinsandStilettos · 29/08/2022 01:14

Miriam - not keen although I do like Miri
Stella - I like it but always think of Cat on a hot tin roof/McCartney/Artois
Helena - I like it, classic, despite Bonham-Carter
Marianne - I like it, vive la republique, ignoring Marianne Faithfull (not true about mars bar)

NotABeliever · 29/08/2022 01:10
