Rory or Rafferty

Hello!
I think we’ve narrowed our baby names down to Rory or Rafferty (Raff for short). He’ll be little brother to Charlie.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks x

I think Rory is lovely
Rafferty sounds like a self-conscious 'cool' name to me

DurdleSnore · 01/09/2022 22:45

Rory. I’ve never liked Rafferty, it seems a bit ‘try hard’ to me.

What a disgusting, and totally untrue, comment.

I like both names.

MalFunkshun · 30/08/2022 06:05

There are a LOT of 4/5/6 year old Raffs/Raffies/Raphs near us - I think it had a ‘moment’ a few years ago, if that would bother you.

Rory, on the other hand, is pretty timeless 😊

Dinoteeth · 30/08/2022 05:19

Rory by a mile

Raff is a bit Ruff and is great for a fur baby.

pinklavenders · 28/08/2022 21:16

Raff is awful - Riff Raff

Rafferty is like O’Malley, a big ginger Tom cat name.

FASDE1517 · 28/08/2022 20:45

Not a fan or Rory- I love Rafferty though! Also love Rafe if you wanted more options.

Rory. Rafferty/Raff is awful

The opposite of this.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 28/08/2022 20:41

Raff for Raphael is nice though.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 28/08/2022 20:41

Rafferty seemed to start becoming a thing when Jude Law and Sadie Frost gave that name to their son 20 odd years ago. I'm not sure why people think it sounds upper class.

Rory is a good solid name with a long history. And seems less sleb inspired.

carefullycourageous · 28/08/2022 20:38

Rory yes, Rafferty is really awful (sorry).

Jaaxe · 28/08/2022 20:37

Rory! My nephew is Rory, it’s adorable x

Happyowl89 · 28/08/2022 20:29

Thanks for the replies. Looks like Rory is a firm favourite :-)

Rory. i love that name.

Don't like Rafferty at all - not sure why. Ralph with nn Rafe or Raff is OK though.

Catch21 · 28/08/2022 15:15

Rory

RestingMurderousFace · 28/08/2022 15:14

Adore Rafferty.

DramaAlpaca · 28/08/2022 15:13

Rory by far. Fabulous name.

Rafferty's just another Irish surname appropriated as a first name, which isn't a trend I like.

germsandcoffee · 28/08/2022 14:52

Lots of kids can't say their r s.
My own would be shouting wowy 🤣

Callingallskeletons · 28/08/2022 14:39

Love both of them OP, congratulations!

pinklavenders · 28/08/2022 14:38

I know several people who struggle with their R.... Wowy doesn't sound so nice!
