Hi,
I'm new here! I'm expecting my third child in December and we are super excited because we are having a girl, we already have two lovely boys Oliver and Alfie. We cannot agree on a name and it's driving me insane! We know the middle name will be after my Mum's middle name Christine. Anyway so far our list is ; Ava, Sophie, Abigail, Lily, Grace. My favourite is Ava! What do you think? 💗

If I had another girl I’d like Audrey or Florence (Flossie). Not answering the question you asked but hey! All the best with your pregnancy/growing family xx

TeamGiles95 · 01/09/2022 16:20

We had 2 boys first Jack and Alfie. Then had a 3rd baby a girl and we named her Ava-Rose x

Mummyof4Ireland · 01/09/2022 15:53

I have an Ava...I love it. It's a lovely girly pretty name and if you liked to use Irish names for something different Eabha is the Irish for Ava 💗

littlepammie70 · 01/09/2022 15:43

I run a Pre-school so probably have some bias when it comes to names. But I like Elsie, think it goes lovely with your boys names

Firebird83 · 30/08/2022 04:55

Julia, definitely!

17caterpillars1mouse · 29/08/2022 11:11

I prefer Bethany by far. Though I prefer Bethan even more.

ShowOfHands · 29/08/2022 11:06

Julia is much, much nicer than Bethany. I know a couple (adults) and invariably, they're called "Jools" which I like much less.

But both are infinitely more interesting than the ones in your op.

My vote is still Hazel however. Pretty and slightly more unusual and interesting.

pawkins · 29/08/2022 11:00

Julia out of those two.

Pemba · 29/08/2022 10:53

You never mentioned those names before! Grin

I love Julia, classy and classic, it deserves to be more popular. Bethany is nice, though.

Herewegoagain1990 · 29/08/2022 10:13

Sorry me again it's still undecided but narrowed down to Julia or Bethany!

Wow thank you everyone for all your help. We've decided to call her Bethany Christine. X

Oh and do not chose any version of Eve. Dd1 was registering for something and as we sat down the teacher said “Evie?” So we said no not her he said “oh well worth a try every third girl is called that”

MsTSwift · 29/08/2022 08:15

Abigail or Hazel are lovely the others are over used so seem dull even though nice names. Lily/Ava/Grace etc are the Sarah/Claire equivalent in the 70s

Mummytobe333 · 29/08/2022 07:54

I like them all but all just so over used - like you have just looked at the top 10 baby names and went from there. I would probably say Ava too 😊

KirstenBlest · 29/08/2022 07:47

Ava - dislike
Sophie - nice but popular. Sophia too popular
Abigail - like
Lily - overused
Grace - ok but overused as a middle name

SequinsandStilettos · 29/08/2022 02:26

Oliver Alfie and Imogen
Oliver Alfie and Grace
Oliver Alfie and Isabel
but
If your Oliver is known as Olly anyway then
Olly, Alfie, Sophie
Olly, Alfie, Evie
Olly, Alfie, Rosie
Olly, Alfie, Sylvie

SequinsandStilettos · 29/08/2022 02:16

Oliver, Alfie and Grace
All three stand individually.
Sound good together.
Classic name.
--unless nn becomes Gracie. See below)

Ava - matchy A and -er sound (unless meant for hers to be an amalgamation)
Sophie - matchy with Alfie
Abigail - matchy A and nn Abbie too close
Lily - matchy with Alfie
Evelyn - ok but nn Evie matchy
Harriet - not that keen, nn Harry matchy
Hazel - ok but dated

Pemba · 29/08/2022 01:28

Yes, ridiculous to drag up Eva Braun. The name has been so common across the world for centuries, people will not make that connection. And EB was not important anyway.

Eva is actually pronounced as Ava in most countries I believe, it's just in English speaking countries we say 'ee-va'.

Riverlee · 28/08/2022 21:33

Ava and Alfie sound too similar to me.

Kanaloa · 28/08/2022 21:20

YKND · 28/08/2022 18:44

Hmmm. Hitler’s girlfriend’s name. I believe, in general, it’s best to avoid names closely associated with specific historical figures.

Her name was Eva, not Ava. And even Eva is an extremely popular name for girls in this country. Maybe Adolf is too linked, but when it’s a very popular name any links are diluted in the huge pool of people with that name. It’s like saying you can’t call your child Jack as it’s ‘too linked’ to Jack the Ripper. It isn’t linked because there are so many Jacks.

ellieboolou · 28/08/2022 21:14

Hazel, so many Lily's & Ava's and like another poster mentioned, they sound wet names.
Congratulations

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/08/2022 19:41

I love Abigail. You never hear it on little ones these days yet it's a lovely classic biblical name and Abbey is a cute NN

The other names are nice enough but all a bit samey, done to death at the moment

Beautifulsunflowers · 28/08/2022 19:27

Harriet is so lovely with your sons names. That’s what I would choose.

SurpriseSurprise · 28/08/2022 19:22

Oliver, Alfie and Ava is a bit of a tongue twister to say. I think Grace goes nicest from your list. I do like Harriet which someone above recommended too

cordelia16 · 28/08/2022 19:19

I like Abigail and Hazel.
