Lennon?

Am I crazy? Have pregnancy hormones gone wild? 38 weeks pregnant and suddenly absolutely in love with the name Lennon for a girl. DH thinks I've lost the plot but if she was born this minute, I'd be so tempted! We haven't agreed on a name yet which probably doesn't help. Please tell me if this is acceptable or not (I'm assuming not but I need to check on the off chance anyone likes it 😂). Also I'm foreseeing some Beatles comments, I like them but never been a big fan though DF loved them!

Bit of a hostage to fortune given that John Lennon’s reputation is slightly crumbling. I quite liked the Lennox idea because it made me think of Annie Lennox, but perhaps more people would get Lennox Lewis.

Whataboutitthen · 27/08/2022 21:46

Lennon the bunny

Pemba · 27/08/2022 21:44

Lennox, which a couple of pps have suggested, is worse if anything. Also a surname, and very masculine, you think of the boxer Lennox Lewis.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 27/08/2022 21:28

Sorry, Awful!! Also in Scotland its connected to Celtic football club, and then also to religion. Celtic and rangers fandom is deeply rooted in Catholic vs protestant.

What about Lemon, Lumen or Lyra?

Eixample · 27/08/2022 21:19

I have met a baby girl Lennon so she wouldn’t be the first.
Manon or Mignon if you like the -non ending.

dressupinyou · 27/08/2022 21:16

Lennon Stella was in Nashville so it can be a girls name.

John Lennon will of course be the thing every adult thinks of though and as others have said, he was a vile man.

Orphlids · 27/08/2022 21:15

I agree with a PP that Lennox is a beautiful alternative.

NerdyBird · 27/08/2022 21:13

There's a singer named Lennon Stella who played Maddy in Nashville, she carries it off quite well. I quite like it.

It's a spirited boys name around our neck of the woods, sorry

Ha ha yes it's definitely a "spirited" name 😬

LadybirdsAreNeverHappy · 27/08/2022 19:22

What if people are hearing it, not reading it, and they think it’s Lenin? As in Vladimir

Rtmhwales · 27/08/2022 19:16

It's become super popular where I live in Canada. There's three alone under the age of 5 I know here between my child's nursery and my friend's children. I'm used to pretty out there names compared to back in the UK but Lennon for a girl made me double take. Plus people call my DS's friend Lemon.

MrsMop1964 · 27/08/2022 19:11

only if they have a twin called McCartney

StopStartStop · 27/08/2022 19:09

Ailidh Lennon, formerly of a band called 'Sons and Daughters', seems, as far as one can tell, to be a woman. She's also very talented in a range of areas. You could call your dd Lennon and when people mentioned John, say 'No! Ailidh!" and let them google.

Leonora is nice, or Leonie

I knew a Selena nn Lennie

Mummytobe333 · 27/08/2022 18:57

I love Lennon for a boy , not sure on a girl though sorry.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/08/2022 18:57

Nice name I would assume or rather ask if you were a Beatles fan though. Not that that’s a bad thing, is it.

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/08/2022 18:57

Christ I was coming on to say no way for a boy, it’s as naff as Hendrix

For a girl it’s beyond words

Have a nice sit down and a cup of tea

You can’t go wrong with Elizabeth, especially in Jubilee year 👸

trampoline123 · 27/08/2022 18:56

I really like it. I'm sure I suggested it to my BF and got a very firm no.

Roselilly36 · 27/08/2022 18:54

I really like Lennon as a male name choice.

PepsiMaxandPringleStacks · 27/08/2022 18:37

Hillrunning · 27/08/2022 17:53

No, not OK. How about Leoni?

Leoni is worse than Lennon.

I like Lennon as a boys name though

queenoffedup · 27/08/2022 18:35

I really appreciate all of your responses, it seems like it's a hormone thing 😂 I definitely don't want to saddle DD with a name that she'll hate or have negative connotations so will cross it off my list despite my sudden and unexplained infatuation with it!

I once taught a male Lennon. Absolute nightmare child and now in a young offenders institute. So it would put me off.

My general advice is to give boys boy's names and girls girl's names but perhaps I am old fashioned.

I hope your pregnancy goes well.

Mindymomo · 27/08/2022 18:24

Our male cat was called Lennon after Aaron Lennon the footballer.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 27/08/2022 18:23

Lemon is cuter
