Such an ugly name 🫣

HamlinHamlinMcGill · 25/08/2022 18:11

@debwong 🤣🤣🤣🤣

debwong · 25/08/2022 18:08

Would you consider another B name, like... Bhalonz?

Dragonskin · 25/08/2022 17:56

I just think of Point Break

I love the name Bodhi - I know of 2, both boys and both British Indian. Both also under 5, so it seems the name is slowly gaining in popularity. (Also the name of a character in Star Wars Rogue One, to add to Point Break.)

Notsurethisisok · 25/08/2022 17:46

My nephew is called Bodhi, my dd (6, speech delay) calls him bogey. Not deliberate/ malicious, just a pronunciation thing.

Crimea · 25/08/2022 17:45

Not what you asked for but if you have doubts on Bodhi you could consider Rodaigh pronounced the same way, traditional Celtic name

MsSquiz · 25/08/2022 17:45

There is a Bodhi who goes to nursery with DD (2.5 years old) and she loves him.

I quite like the name, that and Brody/Brodie

YellowRoad · 25/08/2022 17:45

Why would you want to call your child "Body"? 🤔
In written form it looks like an Indian name too (nothing wrong with that, but if you're not Indian, it's kinda weird).

Itsthelookitsthelook · 25/08/2022 17:43

I know a dog Bodhi (age 5) named after the Point Break character, and a baby boy Bohdi (spelt incorrectly IMO and it annoys me every time I see it!)
I think it is really having a surge and there'll be tons of them by the time yours is at school, depends if that bothers you.
How about Baxter, Bentley, Brody

hotdiggetydog · 25/08/2022 17:42

Sounds like a mattress company or a new type of yoga where you have lattes while doing it

Crimea · 25/08/2022 17:41

I really like it and agree with pp the nickname Bo is very nice. However it is the sort of name I can imagine well on a child and less so an adult but I suppose they will always have the option of going by Bo or Bode

GalactatingGoddess · 25/08/2022 17:40

I know a Bodhi, very free spirited teacher parent named her son that name

pilates · 25/08/2022 17:40

Not keen
Blake
Beau

Bodhi from Point Break! Great character (played by Patrick Swayze) but not sure I'd name my kid after them although I've heard worse.

I wondered why I associate this name with surfing!

QueSyrahSyrah · 25/08/2022 17:37

I know of a Bodhi and (sterotypically) he is the child of a surfy hippy family, so it suits him well.

Not sure it'd work so well in the suburbs. I do like the name though.

Strokethefurrywall · 25/08/2022 17:35

I know 3 boys named Bodhi and I love the name, would have been on my list except our surname ends in 'ay' so would have sounded weird.

The boys I know range from 3 to 9. Cracking name, go for it.

Some ‘celeb’ recently called their baby girl this recently. I thought it was a boys name tbh. I don’t like it at all but I suppose it’s just personal taste.

Not sure the Haskells would call themselves celebs tbh.

ODAAT260718 · 25/08/2022 17:28

My 9 month old Son is called Bodhi. We've had mixed responses to the name but we're not too worried what other people think. We love it and he is a beautiful baby. If you like it, go for it 😁

2anddonefornow · 25/08/2022 17:26

I like it, know if 2 one of which is 6 months and 1 3 years old. As possible said a celeb recently named their girl it too. Personally I think it suits boys better.

Kite22 · 25/08/2022 17:23

Another who goes straight to Bodie and Doyle in her mind.

Not heard it in real life, but it was asked about on here not long ago.

It sounds like a surname to me, which puts me off.

RaRaRaspoutine · 25/08/2022 17:18

I know a Bode (pronounced same way).

larkstar · 25/08/2022 17:17

I know the name bodhisattva from my time in a Buddhist meditation group - someone seeking enlightenment and well on the way. If it isn't a contraction of that why not spell it Bodie - a more familiar spelling and the same sound - surely Bodhi will just invited more problems with spelling and pronunciation. I know a male named Jodie - I'm not massively enamoured with the sound of it tbh.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 25/08/2022 17:10

Ethan and Venetia in Casualty called their unfortunate baby this.
