It works the other way too-my friend has two aunties-aunt poppy and aunt Olivia
both lovely names but very popular now-both names wouldn’t have anyone batting an eyelid on a baby now-it’s just these (lovely) ladies are both pushing 100
my grandad,great aunts and uncle where Leonard,olive,Edna and wilf
olive and wilf have swung back-I’ve met loads of babies with those names-I was cuddling a baby olive just the other day-it would have been the height of uncool and old fashioned if I’d named either of my dds after her
leonard (not Lenny) and Edna haven’t
My aunts on my other side are Amanda (Mandy) cherry and Sheila
ive met more than one baby cherry but not Amanda/Mandy or Sheila
I just know that my great children may be named one of the ‘uncool’ names as that’s what happens-they swing out of fashion and the cool parents haven’t heard them on rl people so they become cool again
myself and my brothers have names that are timeless-we could be any age and they’ve not dropped in or out of name lists over the years
out of my own children,only three names could be thought of as timeless-the others are very of the time they where born and to my regret,they will be thought of the same as ‘lan,Trevor or Nigel’ of the day in time-and one was born,so I named him what I thought was classic,timeless and lovely-I’d never met another of his name at the time of naming him
It ended up with ten kids with the same name in his class all though school-there seemed to be a boom of that name at the time
