Are there any names that you just can't imagine on a baby?

Each to their own but I just can't picture a baby Frank. It seems such a harsh sounding adult name for a baby especially a newborn yet there have obviously been a lot of baby Franks but somehow I have a mental block when picturing it.

Does anyone else feel this way about a name?

@fufflecake oh dear maybe don't tell the scots. I'm Scottish. Nearly every second person I meet here is called Bruce. 😂

I know a 3 year old Walter who goes by Walt. He is the most glorious little squidgy bundle of gorgeousness and so I think his name is the ultimate in cool.

I always liked the name John, but we have a monosyllabic surname which didn’t really work with it.

Dennis.

Baby Dennis would look like a wizened, grizzled old sea dog, and quite possibly come out smoking a pipe. It would be wrong in every way.

I met a baby Dennis in the park a few months ago, got chatting to the mum & she said he was named after her Dad I rather like it I had an uncle Dennis who was lovely.

I actually really like some of the names listed.

I struggle to imagine a baby Quentin. Or Bertha. Or Boris.

It's a shame that all those strong Scottish clan names - Malcolm, Allan, Russell, Douglas, Craig, etc - still have a strong residual 70s first-name feel about them, instead of being part of the current 'surname as first name' trend. Although I guess Mason/Tyler/Harrison/Morgan etc are heading that way already, but as typical 2010/2020s generation boys' names.

That is so true. Mason, Kayden, Tyler etc are already dated, OOs names

My mum’s friend’s grandson is Desmond. I’ve never met him and just cannot imagine a little Desmond.
I recently met a baby John which I also found a bit strange.

Margaret is on my list if we have a girl but I think DP might veto it!
