Thoughts on the name Indie? What middle name would you pair?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

As a sister for Emo?

Joking aside, I don't think it's terrible but it's a word which does have a lot of other uses.

India? As in the country 🇮🇳? Why would you name your child after a country?

India is a well established name, has been used for years. There's an India in Gone with the Wind which was written in 1936. I think it's lovely.

DaisyJoy1 · 23/08/2022 11:04

I think it's got a nice sound but too faddy - got overpopular in the past few years and I think it will date awfully.

mrsbitaly · 23/08/2022 10:54

I know an indie and it's a lovely name. If you love go with it there will always be someone who doesn't like the name you choose. You don't even have to have a middle name unless you plan on using it to show you mean business when your telling them off 🤣

SNWannabe · 23/08/2022 10:51

India is nicer and Indie is a natural nn from that

I don't see a difference between Indie and other names like Evie, Rosie, Katie ect. Only Indie is less common and has a fresher feel IMO.

Evie, Rosie, Katie etc are all just names, none are associated with countries or states India, Indiana nor do they have political associations of Independence, IndyRef2 or links to a very famous film series Indiana Jones and shortie shouting Indie!

Indie is something I'd be very wary of using for those reasons.

dmb91 · 23/08/2022 10:49

It's a great dog name

Indiana Jones?

GeorgeorRuth · 22/08/2022 21:08

Indiana Jones?

frenchie4002 · 22/08/2022 21:03

how about Inga as an alternative?

drunktrifle · 22/08/2022 20:58

It's a good nickname but it's not a name I'd want as an adult.

user1477391263 · 22/08/2022 20:55

It's really awful. It sounds like a nickname, and it's a twee word for a private school.

pinklavenders · 22/08/2022 16:14

Indie is a nickname that doesn't travel well into other languages.

If you must, use Indiana or Indigo.

friesB4guys · 22/08/2022 16:13

I have an Indie Willow 💕

It was also going to be the boy’s name if she was a boy because boy’s names are too hard to think of!

Spikeyball · 22/08/2022 15:55

It's in the category of not a proper name and will date.

Mehhhhhhh · 22/08/2022 12:14

I love it, would prefer Indiana so she has options.

middle name ideas with Indiana:

cecily
jessamy
Alice
abigail
delilah

ajandjjmum · 22/08/2022 10:40

We have a niece (not in the UK) who is Indianna - Indie for short. I love it.

Lottieskeeper · 22/08/2022 10:00

I know 2 Indies.
One is India on the BC and the other is Indigo on the BC.
It's not an awful name but I prefer both official names.

Footbal · 22/08/2022 09:55

I hate it and it's my nieces name.

Mummytobe333 · 22/08/2022 09:54

Not a fan sorry! 😞

KosherDill · 22/08/2022 09:07

All I can think of is Indie 500.
