Needing a baby girl name

Currently pregnant and really struggling to find a baby girls name we both like. Totally settled on our boys name but can't finalise a girls so I've came here for some help. Currently on our girls list is

. Penelope
. Saffie ( hubby's fave)
. Nell
. Sadie
. Indigo

Hubby likes less traditional names and more unusual or nn vibes. I'm veering more towards traditional and thinking more Penelope with nn Nell or just a stand alone Nell. The thing that is putting me off going with Penelope is the nn penny which ( no offence to anyone) but I really dislike. Please give me your opinions on fave name out of these?

Nell.Good, strong, unambiguous to spell.

Dont like Saffie all I can only think of is Sassy Saffie. Plus if the child has a lisp that is a mouthful.

I have a lisp and loved the names Ruth and Martha but I couldn't use them as I would say Roof and Marfa!

Sadie is very 80s old fashioned.
Indigo is too far out for me.

If you are going to shorten to Penny then it's a no for Penelope.

Out of that list Nell is my fave.

Not Saffie - I can't hear without thinking of Edwina Monsoon. Saffie daaaarling

I liked Penelope for a girl. Not keen on Penny either.

I found girls names hard and with both pregnancies I had a boys name set but options for a girl.

Front runner for a girl was Eleanor nn Nora. But when DD was born it just didn't work for her and we went with Cerys instead

Also love Nell and Sadie.
Penelope doesn’t necessarily have to become Penny, especially if you use Nell day to day.

I like Sadie and Nell from your list.

Saffie is faffie springs to mind and it’s fine for a child but doesn’t sound right for an adult.

How about Tess/Tessa.

I love Nell (I know one she is lovely) and I think indigo/Indie is lovely

marrymeadam · 16/08/2022 19:55

What about Florence/florrie?

Je333ie · 16/08/2022 19:47

I also adore Nell but wasn't sure it would be good as a stand alone name. R names are a no go as surname is R and don't want the double initial thing.
