Jaze or Jayze

To be pronounced to rhyme with maze?

I prefer Jaze as it's simpler but my DP thinks Jayze looks more solid as a name. We don't like traditional names so James is off the menu. We liked Jay but it's a bit overdone and more boring.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Your bubs your choice, of course. Also be prepared for your bubs to hate you for that choice forever.

cactusses · 14/08/2022 20:20

I don't mind Blaze/Blaise but it makes me think of fires. I'll keep Jace on the list for now aswell. What about Zade?

What a mean nest of vipers you really are.

Your bubs your choice hun.

(This thread has reminded me of Maryz. Never knew if it was Maryzee or Maryzed. But then I was shocked when Pag explained her pronunciation of Pagwatch)

Tiredalwaystired · 14/08/2022 20:16

Sorry but I would hear “Jeyes”. Like the floor cleaner.

willowglass · 14/08/2022 20:14

Just awful and I think this is probably a joke.

emma1103 · 14/08/2022 20:14

Would instantly think Chav if I saw that name. Sorry.

Diverseopinions · 14/08/2022 20:13

It sounds like a nick name and has no scope to be a full and formal name or a short one. Gazza and Jazz and Hazza can be nice nick names, but there are probably some rude slang words, like 'wazzer' and others, that sound a bit like Jaze, because it's very off-the-cuff and made-up slang sounding.

Blaze would be better. I think Blaise might be an old-fashioned man's name, and goes with the semantic field of Stormi and Stormzi and Winter and nature-inspired names. In fact, I think the Kardashians might thank me for that suggestion, and use it.

GrouchyKiwi · 14/08/2022 20:11

I agree with PP who suggested Jace.

OldKingCole · 14/08/2022 20:08

both awful!

boysarethebest · 14/08/2022 20:06

Neither

carbuncleonapigsposterior · 14/08/2022 20:05

Jayze-Cloth might work it has a clean ring about it!

Sandysandwich · 14/08/2022 19:54

Jaze , As it looks the same as words that rhyme like Gaze and Maze

Athough to be clearer on the pronouciation you could spell it Jaize like Maize, i think its less likely to be said Jay-Z if its spelled Jaize or maybe Jaise?

Luxa · 14/08/2022 19:54

Spell it Jeyes like the disinfectant

FuckingHateRats · 14/08/2022 19:50

That's a name you'd scan the register, clock the name and assume you were in for a tricky period.

Please don't.

stuntbubbles · 14/08/2022 19:45

You could also spell Jay as Jai.
But please don’t.

BreatheAndFocus · 14/08/2022 19:43

Jayze looks like the name of a toilet cleaner and Jaze just looks like Jase (short for Jason) spelt wrong. It might also be mispronounced ‘Jazz’.

There’s nothing wrong with James or Jay, but you could go for Jamie (or Jaymie), Jacob, Jake, Jago, Jonas, etc. You could also spell Jay as Jai.

TSIFT · 14/08/2022 19:32

What's your social, economical background OP?
I genuinely want to know what sort of people think these types of names are OK

RenegadeMatron · 14/08/2022 19:29

When these name threads come up, I always think ‘why don’t you change your name to the ridiculous one you’re proposing for your child?’

But no, they only ever want to saddle their poor child with the silly name.

OP - people will have pre-conceived ideas about both your child and you when you introduce little Jaze/Jayze…..

stuntbubbles · 14/08/2022 19:28

What about Ezyaj, so Jayze backwards – loses the Jay-Z association and is more unique.

ihatesoaps · 14/08/2022 19:23

Awful names
Very chavvy

littlebitmermaid · 14/08/2022 19:23

Go with Jason please.

littlebitmermaid · 14/08/2022 19:22

Puppypads · 14/08/2022 18:54

Just call him Chav and be done with it

Lollll

What about Jayzus? Popular nickname for Jesus in Ireland.

Only if the middle name is ‘and the Wee Donkey’

Yes I thought maybe Jayze would be read like Jay-Z. I get that lots of people won't like Jaze. I don't mind Jace actually although that sounds more like a shortening of Jason.

Not unless you have just given birth to a stock car racer from the 1970s ..
