Jaze or Jayze

To be pronounced to rhyme with maze?

I prefer Jaze as it's simpler but my DP thinks Jayze looks more solid as a name. We don't like traditional names so James is off the menu. We liked Jay but it's a bit overdone and more boring.

If you like 'Jay' names then how about the Cornish name Jago?

CuriousCatfish · 14/08/2022 22:20

This thread is peak MN snobbery.

excitingusername · 14/08/2022 22:19

Any of the 'ayden' names. They're great. Jayden, Kayden, Brayden (sp?), Grayden, Spaden, Maiden, Laden. You can have so many! 😋

Montgomerymmoose · 14/08/2022 22:17

Zebedee ?

MiauzenKatzenjammer · 14/08/2022 22:14

I predict it will be all the rage in the Youth Court in 2035.

excitingusername · 14/08/2022 22:02

This is clearly a wind-up to get MN going.

Letterasaurus · 14/08/2022 21:59

Hilarious thread. Thanks all😂

mathanxiety · 14/08/2022 21:58

Zade comes across as a girl name to me. Too close to Jade maybe.

How about -
Cade
Zane
Zeke
Zen
Zion
Xander
Xavier

FrogFairy · 14/08/2022 21:54

Sorry typo, for a read z.

giggly · 14/08/2022 21:54

Another set of parents thinking they’ll be a bit different when it’s your child lumbered with a ridiculous name.

FrogFairy · 14/08/2022 21:54

If it is the a you like, how about Ezra?

Diverseopinions · 14/08/2022 21:53

There is a Scottish former footballer called Asa ( Hartford), which is a Hebrew name.

I've always really liked it, and it goes with the long hair on a man, of his era in being a little bit feminine ( with the 'a' at the end) which I find I really like for a male, too, also.

I think it would go well before a lot of last names, too. ( It certainly has a good ring about it in front of Hartford).

loobylou10 · 14/08/2022 21:49

Please don't. They're both awful names

Diverseopinions · 14/08/2022 21:45

Kade is nice with the K and the D to balance the long vowel sound. It doesn't sound like anything else, and can't be shortened.

I think River is really good and a little bit known and popular, but still stands out and there won't be many at school. A river is such a lovely thing to think of: cool, strong, flowing, deep and mysterious. I think I would use it, but too old to have kids. I actually love it.

rainbowstardrops · 14/08/2022 21:45

I quite like Jaze but then again, I like more unusual names!
Zane is ok too.
Maybe I'm weird 😂

I work in a school though and so many popular names that you end up with countless numbers of them in a year group and then you have to think, 'Are you Alex A, Alfie G, Logan B etc etc etc. (nothing wrong with those names btw).

DarkShade · 14/08/2022 21:44

Zade is very nice in my opinion. Real and respectable. Mace?

Redbone · 14/08/2022 21:44

Gosh neither. Why are you trying to be so avant-garde, you are going to saddle your poor child with either of these ridiculous names?

DM1720 · 14/08/2022 21:44

Would definitely read both as Jay - Z. Ridiculous “name” … reminds me of Jays Fluid

NewDogOwner · 14/08/2022 21:42

Consider Balonzo

DarkShade · 14/08/2022 21:40

Jayzeus Christ, neither!

Jaxon is acceptable nowdays, then you could have Jax..? Or Jayden? I'd for for something like Jason, Jacob, Joel.

cactusses · 14/08/2022 21:38

Didn't realise that everyone would hate it THIS much. I don't think it's that different to a lot of other names to be honest.

Didn't realise Zade was popular. I still like it though. If it's an old Arabic name surely that should make those of you who are having a go about made up names like it? Zane just makes me think of one direction.

I like River actually. And Ace. Kade is ok.

Maxim is a bit stuffy for me.

DemBonesDemBones · 14/08/2022 21:36

I don't usually say this and I chose 4 unusual names for my children but please don't use either.

watermelonlipbalm · 14/08/2022 21:31

Jaze!
If you add the Y in then it's definitely Jayzee (the rapper)!

HangingOver · 14/08/2022 21:30

How about Keith but pronounced Kye-th.
