Jaze or Jayze

To be pronounced to rhyme with maze?

I prefer Jaze as it's simpler but my DP thinks Jayze looks more solid as a name. We don't like traditional names so James is off the menu. We liked Jay but it's a bit overdone and more boring.

Jago is much the best of your options imo.
It's a Cornish form of James, isn't it?

What about Ezyaj, so Jayze backwards – loses the Jay-Z association and is more unique.

You're not serious are you?

ShelfyMcShelfface · 19/08/2022 22:42

@Hobbesmanc

Jabez Clegg and Joshua Brookes 😀. They were both famous Mancunians. Can't quite remember what they were famous for though.

I would try and come up with a sensible name suitable for an intelligent, responsible adult, rather than a footballer or X factor contestant.

He's hardly going to be Lord Chief Justice with a name like Zade!

OP here lies the reason you shouldn’t give your kid that name whether you like it or not. You will disadvantage yourself beautiful boy because people like this poster would happily hold him back through their own prejudices.

DangerouslyBored · 16/08/2022 07:22

Both dire. So many people trying to give their kids ‘unusual’ names currently means that no name sounds ‘unusual’, they just sound a bit shit 🤷🏻‍♀️

lot123 · 16/08/2022 07:15

Jace and Jax are both pretty chavvy but not as bad as Jaze or Jayze.

It's a close run thing but I'd put Jax as worse than Jaze and possibly Jace too. I like Jago though.

cactusses · 16/08/2022 07:09

Ive never even heard of teen mom!

TrashyPanda · 15/08/2022 22:49

How about Zadok?

Twizbe · 15/08/2022 20:50

@Nidan2Sandan yep and Cheyenne has named her son Ace.

cactusses · 15/08/2022 08:03

😂 very funny

I've added Jago and Jax to the list, with Jace and Ace.

You sound like Teen Moms biggest fan 😄

Didnt Janelle call her son Jace, and is it, I want to say Mackenzie, who has a son called Jax?

frustratedhostage · 15/08/2022 14:34

Hind?! Child! Autocorrect is doing well today!

frustratedhostage · 15/08/2022 14:34

As a teacher I'd suggest going for names that work well as they get older. Nothing wrong with having Jaze as a nickname but in my opinion it's best to give your hind a name that will be stronger when they're older. Some names just don't sound good from a professional perspective as people age. So I'd go for something like Jago to be different but then have a nickname

Any of the 'ayden' names. They're great. Jayden, Kayden, Brayden (sp?), Grayden, Spaden, Maiden, Laden. You can have so many! 😋

Okayden…

😂😂😂🤣🤣

Palmfrond · 15/08/2022 11:23

Chase sounds vaguely patrician, and if you pronounce like you’re one of the Wurzels it would Jayze. So, win-win. You’re welcome.

DaisyJoy1 · 15/08/2022 11:21

If you want something rare try to choose something a bit... well, not chavvy. Jace and Jax are both pretty chavvy but not as bad as Jaze or Jayze. Ace is just a bit cheesy.

Jago is quirky and cool but with a sort of classy feel. Not chavvy. Similar names in my opinion are Rudy and Otto and Cassian.

How about Jabez? It's a biblical name.

Oooh that reminds me of drinking in the Jabez Clegg pub on Oxford Road when I was a student. Never heard the name since!

FunsizedandFabulous · 15/08/2022 09:00

Ezekiel. Shorten to Zeke.
Lazio
Cassian
Dexter

Both are ghastly. Please don’t give your child this name. If you want to be different then you can choose to change your own name or dye your hair blue or take up unicycling in public or whatever you fancy, but your child does not have a choice. Don’t give them a problem in life before they’ve even begun.
