So I just came across the name Callie - I don't think I've ever heard it before but really like it.

Does it sound completely made up? Or is it a proper name?

Could Callie be short for anything?

Thoughts?

My husband loves it. Can be short for Calliope, Calista or Calypso.

SycamoreTall · 12/08/2022 18:01

Could be short for Callista, Calliope or Callirhoe.

Or Calla (like the lily).

But to be honest I like it better just as Callie.

Short for Calliope and Caroline. I like it.

I love it! Very pretty name - could possibly be used as a short for Cailin (irish version of Colleen) but it's definitely a name on its own

I like it :)

The Callie I know is short for Calliope.

I know a late teens aged Kallie. In her case it's not short for anything. I like it as a name with a C or K.

pastaparadise · 12/08/2022 17:42

I like it. Sounds short for something like Caroline?

TooHotTooGreedy · 12/08/2022 17:41

I would say name your DD whatever you want but the best thing to do is not tell anybody Your name choices until after the name has been given. It’s far harder for people to give criticisms when the name is already attached to a baby, rather than just a possible name choice.

I know a few girls called Callie and also a few dogs 😂. It's not made up but not massively popular. It's nice enough.
