Honestly, call her Nellie. It's what you want judging by your posts, it's a pretty name, it's what she is already called in your head and who gives a stuff what a bunch of strangers on the internet say. Don't stress about it anymore, just enjoy these early days with baby Nellie, she can easily go by Nell or a middle name if she wishes when she is older.

Thank you 😊 Nellie wasn't on the list until she was born and we thought she suited it. Tbh we were in a bubble and didn't even consider the alliteration with the surname 😣

Eleanor Grace nn Nellie

Nellie is just not fair as a full name, in case she has a chubby patch, but also w your surname it’s a comedy name - also not fair
Harper is a bit faddy and low rent
Lylah is also faddy (and a bit stripper IMO)

Thanks for your opinion.. I don't know any Lilahs or Harpers. Lilah is on the list as my partner likes Delilah but I wasn't keen x

This is what my partner said she can be Nellie, Nel, Annie or Anna aswell as Anneleise

Yes - this is nice - go for this

@J3110 , If you think the name and surname are ok together, then use it.
Grace is very overused as a middle name. A famous Nelle was named after her Grandmothe Ellen (spelling reversed). If you google Nelle Harper you might get why I suggested Jean Louise as middle names.

Nellie-Grace will get called Nellie not Nellie-Grace.

Could I throw in wilcard names that I think you might like?
Kitty or Petronella nn Nellie

HerRoyalNotness · 12/08/2022 16:11

Lilah Grace
Harper Wren

are my favourites. I know an adult Lilah and it is such a nice name and not very common

Underhisi · 12/08/2022 16:09

Anneleise is nice as a formal name. You can call her Nellie when she is little and she can decide when she is older.

This is what my partner said she can be Nellie, Nel, Annie or Anna aswell as Anneleise

Sandysandwich · 12/08/2022 16:08

I like Lilah Grace the most
Then Harper Wren and then Harper Nellie

Emoj · 12/08/2022 16:07

Nellie Grace (but I'd hyphenate it into one longer name) or if not Harper Wren. Both are pretty 🙂

mintich · 12/08/2022 16:05

Harper Wren

J3110 · 12/08/2022 16:01

Thank you.. this thread was intended to help with other options that both myself and partner like.. Its unfortunate I can't change the surname 😂

The reason I was so upset was more by the comments that were just absolutely rude and completely inconsiderate.

Also baby is 11 days old already

Harper or Lilah

TiredYorkshireMam · 12/08/2022 15:55

I'm not sure what you mean by google.

But I can see that you are upset. And I can understand why. You love a name and unfortunately it's not great with your surname.

I also love the name Nellie. But I adore the name Helen and I like both Nell and Nellie as nicknames.

Personally, I wouldn't use Nellie if my surname was Nevitt. I would use a more formal name, such as Helen Nevitt, and if she wanted to be Nellie Nevitt to her friends, in an affectionate way, great. But as a stand-alone name I do agree with poster on previous thread who said it sounds a bit like the villains sidekick in a childrens book.

I am sorry you are so upset about it.

But I don't think this thread will do you any good. You are just going to get some people saying they like Nellie and some saying they don't. But that's not really the issue, the issue is them surname.

When is your baby due? You have a shortlist, why not just take the pressure off until she arrives. I feel hypothetical names are suddenly very different once the baby is actually here.

I don't like any of them.
That is not to be unkind. That is because you asked our opinion.

Thank you. It's not the difference of opinion that had been unkind previously. Just horrid comments in general

I don't think the opinions are going to mean very much without knowing that the surname will be Nevitt....

I refrained from posting it due to being informed it will be online forever on Google search hence it was deleted for breech of guidlines but hey ho thanks for that 😬

Are you the poster that was set on Nellie Nevitt?

I don't think Nellie Grace Nevitt is much better to be honest.

However, you do seem really set on it and say you love it. Remember that everybody on here is a stranger. Nobody on here will ever meet your child, you have to choose what you love.

In saying that, I do think the advice you got to give a more formal version of Nellie, and use that as a nickname, was good advice.

Helen Nevitt, Eleanor Nevitt are both nice.

Yes I did refrain from using the surname on this thread after I received a comment informing me that if someone searches Google it will come up with this thread 😬 I was set on Nellie for personal reasons but now I received so much hate I have spent days crying and doubting whether my child is going to resent me as I was told so much how ridiculous it sounds. Nellie Grace was the original name on the previous thread.

I don't particularly like the more formal names other than Anneleise and Anneli as they aren't very common from where I am from however my partner said she will likely just get called Anna/Annie x
