Has Evie declined in popularity?

Or is it still very popular? There was a point between 2008-2012 when it felt as though every other little girl was named Evie, but I haven’t heard it for a while.

Nah, it's still insanely popular, along with Lily/Lilly.

I work as a registrar!

PoleFairy · 14/08/2022 14:25

Friend of mine just had an Evie this year and that was Evie on birth cert.

I know Evelyn, Evangeline, Eve, Evelina as well who will all no doubt become Evies in time.

Euridicefortuna · 14/08/2022 14:19

I have only met 4 other Evelyn's in my entire life. I am in my 30's named after a grandparent and they would be 5-7 years old accept for the 90 year old.I would like to thank all the parents that have called their girls Evelyn, finally after 30 years I have a tea cup, dummy, tree decoration and a sippy cup with my name on it.I know the items are not age appropriate but I was so excited!!

I'm Evvie by the way never Evey (unless at work ,they can't get their heads around Evvie and yes they are both spelt Evie as Evvie looks silly) but if my mum is in earshot only ever Evelyn.I only ever introduce myself as Evelyn only give Evvie if they insist on shortening it ,which they always do.

CharlieBoo · 14/08/2022 14:12

@MsTSwift same here but it’s lily! lily’s everywhere..

MsTSwift · 14/08/2022 13:47

yes insanely popular has been for years and new parents still using it!

squishee · 14/08/2022 13:35

Was it ever popular? Reminds me of V for Vendetta.

gemma1993 · 14/08/2022 13:18

I know two under 5s and regularly hear it when I’m out with my kids. It’s everywhere.

MsTSwift · 13/08/2022 23:26

Sat on the beach today. Both families either side of us had a flipping Evie! Couldn’t believe it.

MsTSwift · 13/08/2022 23:24

Christ this is one to avoid. A lovely chat with my teen about her friends today

Evie is so lovely
Evie is moving to private school
Im meeting up with Evie tomorrow
Evie is back from holiday on Monday

All different girls!!! It’s like someone passed a law and the name Evie now means girl. Terribly confusing. The point of a name is to identify a person and Evie fails on that. It’s like Sarah in the 70s

IggyAce · 12/08/2022 22:13

I know 3 Evie’s they are 15, 10 and 5.

J3110 · 12/08/2022 22:11

I have an almost 5 year old named Evie Sophia x

KayEmAy · 12/08/2022 15:14

Still pretty popular unfortunately, I think because it's a nickname for so many names -

Evelyn, Eve, Evangeline, Everly ect

I wish it wasn't, I've been obsessed with it since The Mummy haha

PAST

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/08/2022 00:35

It might be slightly passed the peak but still going pretty strong I’d say, especially the Evelyn variation. They all end up being called Evie anyways.

Homer28 · 10/08/2022 11:11

My niece Evie was born in 2019.

prepared101 · 10/08/2022 11:09

My Evie was born in 2008. She was named after a grandparent and a great grandparent (Evelyn) and I assumed the popularity at the time was because lots of girls were named in a similar vein.

Purplemoon19 · 10/08/2022 11:07

I know two Evelyn’s born in the last 3 months who both go by Evie

pinklavenders · 10/08/2022 09:51

Evie, along with Ellie, Izzie etc, seems to be falling slowly out of fashion. It may well sound quite 'dated' soon.

Evieisanicename · 10/08/2022 09:29

Louise0701 · 10/08/2022 09:24

I only know 1 Evie and she’s 14 now.

I think I started to hear a lot of girls called Evie around 2008.

DuggeeHugPlease · 10/08/2022 09:23

Don't know about statistically but I know 2 1 year old Evie's. They are both Evelyn on birth certificate but only ever called Evie.

PancakesWithCheese · 09/08/2022 21:50

Still loads of Evie’s at our school. And Evelyn’s.

That is sort of the point, as children at primary school now will have been born between 2017 and 2011. I was wondering if it’s declining for babies being born now, not five years ago.

DuchessOfSausage · 10/08/2022 08:47

The figures for Evie will almost certainly be misleading as an Evie might be Eve, Evelyn, Evelina, Everley or Evangeline on the BC.
