What do you think?
Chic or Dion?

I love Joan (and quite like Jane) too :) All great choices!

Op, did you go with Celine in the end?

I’m still very early stages of pregnancy. Husband wanted this name for our first child but we had a boy.
I wasn’t sure about the name first time around but I love it now!

My DD's middle name is Selene as chosen by my DP. I love it.

Op, did you go with Celine in the end?

I like Celine. It's elegant. I also like Selina/Selena. I'd also suggest Colette, Karine and Corinne.

I don't think Celine Dion is (a) a negative association or (b) relevant to the current generation of kids. I would be surprised if they know who she is, to be honest.

Mamapep · 09/08/2022 08:47

Thanks all.

I like short classic names that tend to end in N or NE;
Céline
Joan/Jane (I know these are divisive but I’ve always thought they were extremely cool and 60s)
Suzanne (but not ‘Susan’)

@gotelltheoldmandowntheroad makes a good point that Dion is a legend anyway😆

I do think of Dion but that probably won't happen in future as she's getting on now. She's a legend though, so I would use it. I love that name, very beautiful, elegant. I also love Selina.

CDD1992 · 09/08/2022 07:28

Suggest Celina?

CDD1992 · 09/08/2022 07:28

Dion

PraiseBee · 09/08/2022 07:27

Chic chic chic

MissyB1 · 09/08/2022 07:25

It’s a beautiful name, I have an aunt called Celine, she’s 80 and beautiful inside and out.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 09/08/2022 07:23

Gorgeous. I also like the Selene spelling, which gives you the same sound but without the Dion connotations.

Holidaygirls · 09/08/2022 07:04

Chic but I'd assume French

Cindie943811A · 08/08/2022 20:12

Is Cosette useable? I’ve always rather liked it and prefer it to Celine.
Ive got Synaesthesia and so prefer Celine (golden colour) to Selene (silvery)

Martinisarebetterdirty · 08/08/2022 18:54

Love it, went to sixth form with a (French) Celine and she was fabulous, so I find it really chic and cool.

Orphlids · 08/08/2022 18:52

Chic. Really lovely actually, the more I think about it.

pinklavenders · 08/08/2022 17:40

I really like Céline!

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 08/08/2022 17:33

Chic.

Like the fashion label of the same name.

Twizbe · 08/08/2022 15:14

I know a Celine IRL, lovely woman and I never think Dion

lemongirl1985 · 08/08/2022 15:11

I like it Smile

EternalPoinsettia · 08/08/2022 15:04

Celeste if you are looking for a similar french girl's name. Not fan of Celine

heavyistheheed · 08/08/2022 14:29

Prefer Céline

Hobbesmanc · 08/08/2022 14:22

I think those melodic C names are due a revival.

I love Celine, Celeste, Cecelia, Cecily, Cecile Celia etc

Luredbyapomegranate · 07/08/2022 19:51

Dion
so no

Selina / Celina is nice though

Or something like Celeste or Colette

UnityO · 07/08/2022 17:25

It's ok but much prefer Celeste
