What do you think of this name for a baby girl?
Names also on my list are Milencia and Astoria.

They're all quite unique names and all end in an "ia" sound which I love. If anyone has any similar suggestions please let me know.

I've needed this today Grin

Rollingdownland · 07/08/2022 19:06

Tarantula has a similar vibe

DamnAKarmaDingDong · 07/08/2022 19:05

All made-up names are only ever a breath away from being an Apprentice team name.

Puissance
Alacrita
Succeedia

I'm not controlling the babys name BTW, not sure where people got that impression from? My boyfriend and I have tried to come to an agreement on a name for a long time, but as we have such different tastes couldn't decide on anything. Due to this we BOTH came to an agreement that I would choose the name myself.

oo oo Primarcia!

Terriblethirtytwos · 07/08/2022 18:57

”The underclass”? Wow.

OP, all the names you are suggesting are try hideous. I think you can still achieve the feel you want if you dial it down a little. Please, at the very least, cross Colincia off your list.

LordBuckley · 07/08/2022 18:51

Or Clincia (female equivalent of Clint).

Are you pronouncing that Clintzia or the more popular Clencher?

Luredbyapomegranate · 07/08/2022 18:53

I like a cia end too, but Terrencia is awful, like the old Scots thing of adding ina onto any old male name to make it female - Malcomina, Hughina, awful.

Milencia sounds like an Italian football team and is almost as bad. Astoria is used a lot for cheap hotels and nightclubs and all sorts of random businesses so no.

The thing is OP, your daughter has to live with this as a girl and as a woman, you can’t just amuse yourself like you do when you name a cat.

Constancia
Alicia
Marcia
Carlicia
Lucia (their are 3 different ways of saying his but the pronunciation you want shouldn’t be too hard to insist on)
Anastasia
Felicia
Artemisia
Gracia

These are all fine, have a Google, there will be more.

some of the ia or thea type ends might also work for you:

Sanchia
Cassia
Anthea
Rosaria
etc

@StillHappy ah, “the underclass”. I’m getting a strong impression that you were the schoolyard bully you’re worrying about.

LordBuckley · 07/08/2022 18:48

How about Gussette? (Short for Augusta).

StillHappy · 07/08/2022 18:45

Krakinou · 07/08/2022 18:43

Point is just, people have different naming tastes, some names will sound horrible or unusual to some people. I don’t really understand why commenters on this thread are getting so nasty about OP.

If yours is a serious point, then here is a serious answer. The names are hugely suggestive of coming from the underclass, and will result in the child facing prejudice. They will result in them being mercilessly bullied through school, will cause them no end of problems as an adult, and they are a cruel and selfish gift from a bad parent to a child who deserves better.

jammiewhammie65 · 07/08/2022 18:44

Spider ? Horrible.

fion \fjɔ̃\ masculin

(Vulgaire) Derrière ; cul ; fesses , postérieur, popotin.

My little sister is called Fiona and numerous unrelated French people have sniggered at her name.

Yes, fion means buttocks, not arsehole, ffion means neither.

Thanks so much for everyones feedback and name suggestions 😊

Terezita, Colincia, Talicia, Azaria, Celestia and Caledonia are all added to my list!

Your poor child, please don’t lumber them with one of these.

Some people on this thread are taking this incredibly personally. I never see this kind of outrage when people suggest the name Ffion, and that means arsehole in French.

No it doesn't. That'd be cul.

If someone on a French group was thinking of calling their child Ankul they too would be made fun of, as it sounds like encul, which you presumably understand from the Thierry Henry insult.

Tlolljs · 07/08/2022 18:25

Why don’t you change your name to one of these fucking monstrosities if you like them so much , and let your boyfriend pick a name?

Johnnysgirl · 07/08/2022 18:16

SpringAspen · 07/08/2022 18:11

I like that name in full but hate the idea of "Cord" as a nickname.

So don't use Cord as a nickname. No one else will.

SpringAspen · 07/08/2022 18:11

coconuthead · 07/08/2022 16:58

Sounds like Tarantula. I know a little Cordelia which I think is better imo

@StillHappy My boyfriend and his family prefer more traditional names like Elizabeth, Charlotte, etc. I don't like those kind of names so will be picking a name of my choice.

Let them pick.

For your child's sake, let them pick.
