What do you think of this name for a baby girl?
Names also on my list are Milencia and Astoria.

They're all quite unique names and all end in an "ia" sound which I love. If anyone has any similar suggestions please let me know.

In fact if you search for people at Goldman Sachs on LinkedIn the list of first names is extremely diverse..

On the first page alone there is

Kemi
Kwasu
Jimi
Mercedes
Fabian
Ayo
Tobi
Initaz
Salma
Queenie
Anisha
Rondette
Yammi
Nazli
Haris
Ria

All work, or have worked, at Goldman Sachs in London.

You must work for an extremely sad case in terms of diversity if you raise an eyebrow at something beyond Victoria, Charles and such like.

What annoys me about this is that the upper class, private school types have some of the most ludicrous names.

They really don't, though. All those Binky/Spud/Wombat names are nicknames - you can bet your last Gucci loafer they're Alexandra/Oliver/James on their birth certificates.

They quite often do though.

The Rees-Moggs have Annunziata (sister), and two of his children are Anselm and Sixtus.

Eugenie. August. Cosmo.

These are all fairly unusual names and not much less out there than the OPs IMO.

@GrandSlamFinalee Have always loved the name Victoria but it just doesn't have the unique aspect I'm looking for sadly.
Aria is beautiful though, will definitely add that to my list.

I don't get this desire for unique names.

If no one else is calling their child Terancia, there's probably a very good reason for that!

If you want something unique with an Ancient Greek vibe how about
Calliope (Callie)
Cressida
Aurora
Athena
Hestia
Ariadne

IsThePopeCatholic · 08/08/2022 15:48

How about

Hernia
Tibia
Myopia

AnuSTart · 08/08/2022 15:20

What about Aranxia?

Allthebears · 08/08/2022 15:01

I think you've had some unnecessarily rude responses OP, however your choice of names are not really usable or a kind choice for a child. (Astoria possibly could work, the others definitely not).

There are loads of beautiful, unusual names out there, many of them seldom or never heard, without resorting to making up something 'yooneek'. I can promise you that the reactions you are getting on here to your names are what you would get in real life, it's just that people would be too polite to say those things to your face! Or worse, to your poor innocent child.

If you like Victoria, how about Vittoria, as suggested previously a couple of times? That's really unusual, yet still a real name which should suit your partner.

Or perhaps:
Alessia
Ellaria
Eugenia
Felicia / Felizia
Kezia
Lucrezia
Marzia
Olympia
Rosaria
Theodosia
Xenia
Zinnia

Sniffypete · 08/08/2022 07:55

How about Vulvodynia?

blameitonthecaffeine · 07/08/2022 23:50

I like Azaria and Celestia.

I really like the idea of Astoria nn Story but unfortunately her nickname would end up being Hotel.

ia names I've either only cone across once or never at all:
Aurelia
Cassiopeia
Euphemia (but this is do ugly )
Fabia
Felicia
Lavinia
Nadia
Octavia
Virginia (underused for obvious reasons!)
Xenia
Yesenia
Zinnia

What annoys me about this is that the upper class, private school types have some of the most ludicrous names.

And no-one bats an eyelid. It certainly doesn't stop them from joining an investment bank.

Yes, some employers are very prejudiced. They shouldn’t be, it’s awful that they are, but they are, so what kind of idiot knows this and just goes ahead and handicaps their child anyway?

There’s no reason that a cobweb tattoo on the throat or an “ACAB” tattoo across the knuckles should stop you getting a client management job in Coutts either, but it will, so anyone hoping for that job would be ill-advised to get one.

Krakinou · 07/08/2022 23:13

I don’t know. I agree with basically everyone here that the 3 names OP suggested are pretty terrible, but the genuine suggestions others have come back with on this thread are way more interesting than the usual 10 names that are repeated in every other thread (“How about Freya? Etc) And there are some lovely and useable ones in there.

Some people just really enjoy belittling others to make themselves feel superior.

There are some other lovely sounding Roman names...

Caecilia (sounds like Cecelia)
Aurelia
Caelia
Cassia
Claudia
Fabia
Flavia
Decima
Livia
Laurentia

Prejudice against names that don’t fit the perceived norm speaks way more about the employers than it does about the applicants (or their parents).
And? They're the one's in the driving seat 🤦‍♀️ They won't care what little Millencia's mummy thinks.
Then again, something tells me no offspring of op will get within an ass's roar of investment banking.

What annoys me about this is that the upper class, private school types have some of the most ludicrous names.

wheresmymojo · 07/08/2022 22:27

Also Ancient Greek names...

Apollonia
Ambrosia
Artemisia
Aspasia
Athanasia
Corinna but could change to Corrinnia
Demetria
Eudocia
Eumelia
Eugenia
Euphelia
Euphemia
Leontia
Ligeia
Pelagia
Ophelia
Xenia

And also Sophia but I'm going to guess that's a bit on the popular side!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/08/2022 22:22

Why is it on here that if you're not planning on calling your baby something along the lines of Noah, Olivia, Ella, Amelia James or Arthur your suggestions get laughed at at eye rolled at.

Madhairday · 07/08/2022 21:50

HuggyWuggy · 07/08/2022 12:55

How about Balonzia?

🤣🤣🤣

Staynow · 07/08/2022 21:40

Cordelia/Cora is a lovely suggestion by a PP, if you like Cordelia then what about that? Your bf and his family may like it too. Milencia just sounds like something you made up from random letters to sound like a name.

Individewl · 07/08/2022 21:14

I meant does end in ‘ia’
