Orla, given the Celtic connection

rightonthyme · 29/07/2022 09:53

My personal preference would be a single syllable, as I like the rhythm - like Fenella Ann or Fenella May.

@HaveringWavering , they can be useful if you have the same first name and surname as someone else. The use of filler middle names isn't much help in that case though.

Fenella is fairly unusual, so the chances of there being two Fenellas with the same surname are pretty slim.

I am not keen on the single syllable middle name either @SundayTeatime .

I've got a fairly unusual first name and a multi-syllable surname. My parents didn't give me a middle name. I was told that (a) my name was quite distinctive (b) it was long already and (c) if I had been given a middle name to honour one side of the family the other side would have been offended!

Fenella Fielding's middle name was Marion, which is nice.
Fenella Woolgar has two middle names, Justine Therese.

pinkyredrose · 29/07/2022 09:19

Does she need a middle name?

Maireas · 29/07/2022 09:18

Oddbod.
Please tell me that your surname is Fielding.

Fenella is an excellent choice. How many syllables is the surname?

Fenella Verity
Fenella Robyn

SundayTeatime · 29/07/2022 09:05

Not anything one syllable. Definitely not Rose, Grace, May etc. I do have a soft spot for Jane, though.

HaveringWavering · 29/07/2022 08:55

I thought middle names were generally used as tributes to other people, or to preserve a surname that might otherwise die out. Is there much point in having one just to sound nice?

DiscoBadgers · 29/07/2022 05:26

I’m afraid I like Fenella Rose or Fenella Grace despite their popularity. I also like Fenella Rae, Fenella Octavia and Fenella Catherine as suggested by others.

Jane?

DuchessOfSausage · 28/07/2022 22:25

Not May, Rose or Grace as there will be many Ella May/Rose/Graces.
Roux is something you cook and Harriette is a shit spelling of Harriet, Cheyenne is bordering on cultural appropriation ...

Fenella Cheyenne is bordering on some kind of name schizophrenia TBH

Luredbyapomegranate · 28/07/2022 23:37

Fenella is great, but Please not Rose, Grace or May… the world doesn’t need another 3 syllable first name ending in ‘ah’ followed by one of these.

I actually think a soft ish 2 syllable name sounds great and much less blah

Fenella Katharine
Fenella Beatrice
Fenella Charlotte
Fenella Edith
Fenella Alice
Fenella Elsbeth

or 3 syllable for more glamour

Fenella Marguerite
Fenella Marianne
Fenella Genevieve
Fenella Caroline
Fenella Adelaide
Fenella Isabel

If you want one syllable then Fenella Clare is nice, and Jean, Jane or Hope are also work

LizzieBet14 · 28/07/2022 23:06

Fenella Kate

Louise0701 · 28/07/2022 23:00

Ooh; Fenella Sophia is a very beautiful name! Good shout PP.

DuchessOfSausage · 28/07/2022 22:25

Not May, Rose or Grace as there will be many Ella May/Rose/Graces.
