Hi, Konrad or George - which one do you prefer?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Well, no, that's not what I was referring to.

I assumed if the OP had Germanic roots and was using a K spelling for that reason, she would have mentioned it.

I like Conrad a lot.

But in Polish, for example, the only way to get something like the hard C sound in English is to use K. (Polish C is roughly like the English soft C, so Conrad would be something like Tsonrad or Dzonrad).

I'd use Conrad in an English-speaking country, unless you're naming the baby after a Konrad or the family's bilingual/has close ties to a country/language where Conrad-with-a-c doesn't work.

I love Conrad/Konrad! It's strong and memorable.

George is dull and reminds me of Georgie Porgie...

LaLaLouella · 28/07/2022 13:22

George is extremely overused (and a bit boring!)

Conrad is pretty cool - avoid the Ks though....

George is lovely.

Don't understand this trend of turning C names into K names.

Either way, I still prefer George over Conrad.

Didn’t realise Polish, German, Norwegian and Swedish were trends.*
This is great! My DD is Sofia after polish roots and I would hate people to think we were being 'trendy'

Clairewentoverthemountain · 28/07/2022 13:04

I LOVE Conrad with a C.

George is a little dull to my ears, but perfectly nice and respectable in general.

I absolutely love the name Conrad (no K though) and would have used it if I had had boys. George is far too popular and ordinary.

carrotcruncher81 · 28/07/2022 11:07

George!!

Blowyourowntrumpet · 28/07/2022 11:07

George

Friffle · 28/07/2022 10:59

I presume Konrad is the normal spelling in places like Germany. I do prefer the smoothness of Conrad though.

Dislike George strongly.

What do you think @SummerSummer8 ??

After all these advice I will go with George :)

OP posts:
ButterflyBitch · 28/07/2022 10:43

I prefer George but I know a Conrad who said he’d like his name to be spelt with a k.

BlueKaftan · 28/07/2022 10:39

George!

Konrad seems harsh

hmm ok George might be nicer :)

TalkingToMyselfAgain · 28/07/2022 10:31

George. The spelling of the other name with a K is pretentious

Becknutmeg · 28/07/2022 10:30

George is lovely!
