I always think of Conrad as being a very 80s American name - like Justin and Brett. I knew quite a few back then whose families were here with the oil, must be one that’s coming back into fashion.

Exact same here. It's a name that reminds me of American soap operas ( they always have a Conrad) even though it is a lovely name

knackersToIt · 02/08/2022 06:08

@Friffle "that's so provincial" 😂😂😂 This gets the prize for the most perfect MN response.

mathanxiety · 02/08/2022 05:32

Conrad, ditch the K.

HeadlessGummyBears · 02/08/2022 04:53

If you don’t have a middle name and would like to use one, how about George Conrad?

VenusClapTrap · 02/08/2022 04:20

I love Konrad/Conrad. Dislike George.

pinklavenders · 31/07/2022 16:07

George manages to be a bit boring and a bit uppity at the same time.

I sort of agree..

WildCherryBlossom · 31/07/2022 13:55

I tried to talk DH into naming one of ours Conrad. I love it, but he vetoed it (Conrad Black's misdemeanours we're still quite fresh in people's minds back then)

Just want to add when we named our Conrad the reactions went between "I LOVE that name" to " oh" (and then my mother who said " that's HORRID" only to 11 years later tell me " I always liked the name Conrad its such good strong name" but my mum was a bit odd :))

MilliwaysUniverse · 31/07/2022 01:05

I like them both. One of them is my DS's name.

I knew a lovely Konrad once, he was Polish so had the K spelling. It's a great name.

The perfect synopsis of George!

AuntTwacky · 31/07/2022 00:28

Hate Konrad

Enko · 31/07/2022 00:12

I dont like George

I have a Conrad he is 20. We have met 1 other. Its 100% marmite name. I have Scandinavian roots and we wanted names that worked in both languages. Conrad does.

I still love his name I think its strong solid and balances that. Unusual without being weird. My favourite type of name.

Unusually for this thread I don't mind the Konrad spelling I just personally preferred the C.

C0mfyChairP0se · 30/07/2022 23:57

I prefer Conrad if it's with a C although I suppose it's the spelling used in Scandinavia and Germany.

George manages to be a bit boring and a bit uppity at the same time. Not a huge fan.

Luredbyapomegranate · 28/07/2022 23:39

Jesus..

GEORGE

Konrad is a hard no. Especially with a K

pimlicoanna · 28/07/2022 22:50

George is a fantastic name

sanityisamyth · 28/07/2022 22:49

They're both brands of clothes ... Conrad has a higher price tag! Not helpful, but first thing I thought!

DramaAlpaca · 28/07/2022 22:45

Conrad, spelled that way.

I don't like George much.

ChagSameachDoreen · 28/07/2022 22:28

George.

Konrad reminds me of condoms.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/07/2022 21:08

Konrad is a K name - depends on the language Smile

Ellmau · 28/07/2022 20:57

I like Conrad/Konrad, but would only spell with a K if you have family heritage form a country which uses the K.

George is OK but a tiny bit dull.

FlissyPaps · 28/07/2022 18:58

George

flirtygirl · 28/07/2022 16:56

Both are horrid.
