Orla, Nancy or Grace?

Middle name will be Haf and/or Jill after close relatives who go by those names.

So: Orla, Nancy or Grace

And both above names as middle or just one?

I like them all. Orla would probably be the most frequently used for little girls in Ireland atm. I am also surprised that so many previous posters are confused by a name that is not unusual in the UK.

I’d go with Orla Haf but saying out load sounds like ‘I’ll have half’ both names independently though I love.

WaltzingWaters · 24/07/2022 10:23

My favourite is Orla

Freeme31 · 24/07/2022 10:21

Grace

All are fine, nice.

I am a bit surprised by the comments upthread on Orla. I think it sounds nice. It’s a well known Irish name, though with an anglicised spelling. I know a few and I live in England.

Nancy I like, though I sometimes think of poor Nancy in Oliver Twist.

I like Grace, even though I know it’s quite popular these days. It’s great as a first name.

I love Nancy, old fashioned names are fashionable atm. I can see this name making a comeback because of Stranger Things.

Don’t care for Orla, reminds me of either Orly nail polish or Oral B toothbrushes. (Advertising is invasive!)

TruthHertz · 24/07/2022 01:59

One I'd the latter two. Orla sounds like something you'd call a killer whale.

butterflyflutterby123 · 24/07/2022 01:58

I'd actually say Orla. It's interesting and different and the other ones seem a bit old fashioned to me. They're lovely and would be fine if you went for them, but not my first choice

No no yes

Mally100 · 24/07/2022 01:52

Orla just doesn't sound nice at all. As pp said it sounds like Oral and you don't want a child to be stuck with that.
Nancy is quite an older name, like Barbara category.
Grace sounds lovely.
