As a middle name for Ottilie? I have a 3 syllable surname.

Ottille Eve sounds fine.

Go with the family name. That trumps whatever it sounds like. Or consider having two middle names

MassiveSalad22 · 23/07/2022 08:12

Turns into Ottileeve I’m afraid! Same with Ottilevelyn.

I like Eve as a name but it doesn’t really work alongside Ottilie. But it’s a middle name. It doesn’t really matter if the flow is slightly off.

Love Eve. Beautiful, simple name.

If Eve is the family name I would use that and not care about whether they go together, it's the meaning that's important

Oh. My husband and I both love the name Ottilie, so that's been decided. We're thinking about Eve as it's a family name on my DH side. I sort of agree that the names don't go that well together, but wanted other opinions. What about Evelyn?

What other middle names would go well with Ottilie?

Do you HAVE to choose Ottilie? Its a mix of ugly and twee at the same time. Eve on the other hand is classic and chic. I think it manages to avoid the naffness of all the Evies knocking about somehow. Is there a meaning behind choosing it as a middle name? If not I'd just choose a name with meaning as it doesn't go brilliantly with Ottilie in style

SatinHeart · 22/07/2022 20:51

I don't think it flows very well with Ottilie I'm afraid. But Eve is a lovely name and people rarely say the first name and middle name together out loud so it might not matter.
