Allie, Molly, Carrie or Leah

Which do you prefer?

Allie would either be a stand alone name or nn for either Alexis or Alexandra
Carrie would probably be a stand alone name although I don't mind Carolyn

Leah is the only one that seems like a full name. L names are everywhere so it feels a bit samey with all the Lily, Luna , Lola, Lila, Lyra, Layla type names
The others are OK, but Allie and Carrie could do with a full name like Alexandra or Caroline.
Molly is probably the one I'd pick

NannyR · 18/07/2022 08:35

I love carrie, allie and Leah, not keen on Molly at all - it seems a very different type of name, to me, the first three are strong names, Molly seems a bit cute and toddlerish.
What about Callie?

Carrie is sweet.

Leah, Alison or Alice are nice too.

ChagSameachDoreen · 18/07/2022 07:28

Allie is great.

Molly and Carrie have always sounded like fake names to me. Hard to explain.

Leah is an inconsequential puff of smoke.

Tuesday598 · 17/07/2022 20:24

Thanks all.

I hadn't considered Alison as a full name for Allie but actually quite like it.

I like that Leah is biblical and therefore a classic but the popularity of other L names - Lyla, Layla etc at the moment does put me off slightly

I have a Carrie. It's beautiful and will always be my favourite girls name

Luxa · 17/07/2022 10:24

Leah. It's a simple, underused Biblical name. The others are more twee and nicknamey.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 17/07/2022 10:11

Leah is nice. Ive known some terrifc Mollies over the years. Carrie is a horrorfilm/SATC. Went to Guides with an allie and she was an unbearable know it all.

BohoInAcapulco · 17/07/2022 10:06

I love Carrie (and also Cary for a boy). Great as a stand alone name in my opinion but I like Caroline/Carolyn too

Cloud16 · 17/07/2022 09:56

Always loved Allie because of The Notebook! Go for Allie, OP :)

SuperCamp · 17/07/2022 08:46

Carrie

Luredbyapomegranate · 16/07/2022 23:04

Caroline nn Carrie - due a revival
or Alexandra nn Allie - a classic

Molly is a bit 2000 and slightly meh
Leah is v meh and blends with the endless Lara/Lena/Luna/Lola/Leila/Lyra/Lila names

pitterypattery00 · 16/07/2022 22:59

I like Allie the best. (And like both Alexandra and Alison for the full name).

I also like Carrie as short form of Caroline. Not so keen on Carolyn.

Molly and Leah sound a bit dated to me.

PancakesWithCheese · 16/07/2022 21:21

Leah.

Callie is nicer than Carrie and Allie.

TokenGinger · 16/07/2022 21:18

Leah

SparklingPeach · 16/07/2022 21:17

In order: Carrie, Molly, Allie, Leah.

PritiPatelsMaker · 16/07/2022 21:16

I like Molly but it was very popular around here in the early 2000's, don't know if popularity would put you off?

Love Allie for Alexandra or Alexis.

Carrie is ok but I'm not keen on names that sound like an action like Carrie or Luke (look is pronounce the same where I'm from).

Leah is my least favourite from your list but I've no idea why, just not my choice Wink

RosieRoww · 16/07/2022 21:15

I like Molly.

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/07/2022 21:07

I really like Allie as a NN for Alexandra though I also think Alison could be a bit retro cool

I really like Carrie as a NN for Caroline, not so keen on Carolyn. I went to school with a Carrie Ann which I think is quite nice too

I really like Leah but there are just so many L names about at the moment that it would just blend in with the rest of them

Molly is cute on a toddler but I'm not sure I'd like to be called it as an adult so it's a no from me

Alexandra NN Allie would be my first choice

DoNutSweatTheSmallStuff · 16/07/2022 21:02

Have you thought about Ailey? As maybe a shortening for Alaina
