just curious if we’d be forever correcting pronunciation and spelling.

Madda-lin is about the closest I can spell it phonetically. Am from the north of England.

Me too . I’d spell it Madeleine.

Ma-de-line is German to me - I would always say “Madda-lin” in the UK.

ihavenocats · 20/07/2022 16:01

I prefer Madalin too. What about

Avaline ? or Adaline?

I'd pronounce those as Av-uh-leen and Add-a-leen (Irish)🤔

Mad-uh-line is the pronunciation we like but if she’d forever get mad uh lin I feel like we should avoid it which would be a shame as it’s a very pretty name

This is how I say it (SW England)

SteakExpectations · 20/07/2022 16:47

Madeleine - Mad-uh-lane

Madeline - Mad-uh-lin, unless corrected to Mad-uh-line

Skelligsfeathers · 20/07/2022 16:43

Mad- uh-kin
