Know any children called Walter?

Do they avoid the nn Wally? What are they called instead?

In general is it easy to avoid the nn Wally?

Know an 80 year old called Walter and he is very definitely a Walter.. always!
Know a 60 year old Walter..often called Wally down through his life but his family always say Walter
Know a 3 year old..different family and he is always Walter.
Beautiful name.

Yes, he gets Walt. I rarely hear "wally" as a descriptor used these days - it never occurred to me that it could be a nn for Walter when I heard his name. I wasn't sure about it at first but the wee kid is excellent crack, makes my day when I see him - and I love it now.

he is 17 and everyone knows him as “Walt”

Yes and he hated it, now goes by a completely different name now he’s older.

I have a Walter who is Walt most of the time. Two of his cousins, unprompted, call him Walty, one little friend calls him Waltz. So far no Wally from anyone.

I know a 5 year old Walter. Nn Walt. There's time yet though for wally

There's one in my DCs pre-school. The other children are convinced that his name is Water.

A friend has a Walter called Walt.

He is the most adorable little guy. I love the name because I associate it with him.

I know one, around 7/8. No nicknames as far as I'm aware.

I've taught 3 recently under the age of 8 and all 3 of them were called Walt. I would imagine Walt is a much more likely nickname than Wally.

I was at school with a Walter. Yes he was called Wally. He was quite an angry kid too (possibly because of being called Wally).
